It is not a coin, but it is minted on a genuine one cent planchet. These were included in the official US Mint Sets to fill the sixth space in the package in years when only 5 coins (no dollar coins) were made.

The driving distance is about 85 to 90 miles.

The only real free way to park in Philly is if you only need to park for a few minutes. You can pull over to the side of a street and turn on your flashers. The only risk with this is if you don't pull over far enough you run the risk of getting hit...also people tend to get really angry with you.

There's also two hour parking on most streets and technically they can't fine you until two hours is up. You're supposed to move after two hours but most officers aren't going to watch your car for two hours straight. There's a definite risk of getting a ticket even if you're only there for a few minutes and then you have to deal with the courts if you want to fight the ticket.

There are very small areas that have neither meters nor parking limits. The largest of these areas that I know of is Christian Street, between 17th and 20th. I've left my car there for weeks and haven't had any problems with the PPA or criminals. Be sure to check for signage though because the "free" parking is not everywhere on Christian. The second area that I know of is a small section on 15th just south of South St, and a small section of Fitzwater between 15th and 16th.

Before leaving Fox29 about six months ago, in fall 2008, Dorothy Krysiuk's responsibilities began at 5 a.m., with the Good Day Philadelphia program. Management wanted her to pick up the 5 p.m. shift. Traffic reporters John Ogden and Bob Kelly already were working morning and evening shifts, at NBC10 and CBS3, respectively. No explanations were forthcoming about management's reasons for, or Krysiuk's disinterest in, the longer working day.
