it was founded in 2005 about 1 month after hurricane katrina.

Frank shankwitz, along with two co-founders founded the Make A Wish Foundation. Frank was a motorcycle police officer, everything Chris, a little 7-year old boy with luikemia, wanted to be. Chis's wish was the first ever granted. He wanted to be a officer like Frank. He was taken on helicoptor ride and afterwards was taken on a motorcycle ride with Shankwitz. At the end of the day, Shankwitz went to Chris's house to give him a motorcycle driving test on the little boy's battery-powered cycle, but he was not there he had a strock and almost died. The next day Frank came to Chris's hospital bed. He was in a coma. When Frank went to pin Chris's motorcycle wings on his uniform that was hanging on the side of his bed. When the wings were pinned on, Chri came out of the coma. The next day, the boy died. He died, but with a granted wish, he was carried to heaven on those motorcycle wing he so loved.

Do you agree that love is an important element of charity?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes. I am totally with you. Sometimes people may give out of bad intention, such as a selfish intention. People who are given much are expected to give much. For example if i was a billioniare, i would make myslef middle class. Because i would give all my money away. Why? Becasue life does not come from an abundance of money. Life comes from the word of god. Love is the factor in charity. To me giving away is another way of glorifying the father. If we do whatever we can to do our best in gorifying his name, that is what matters the most. Remeber what God values the most. He gave more honor to the widdow in the bible for giving what little she could. Which was everything! She put her faith in him. That is what is most important.

What are some good charities?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends what cause you want to support. Personally, my biggest donations are to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Salvation Army, but you can also donate to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Club, the Special Olymics, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, BigBrothers Big Sisters, and The American Heart Assossiation. Also, don't forget that you can donate your time and goods as well as your money. For example, I usually collect spare change as a bell ringer for at least an hour to an hour and a half around Christmas time every year.

How much money does bono give to charity?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Very little. I have tried, and tried, to find any actual evidence that Bono gives large amounts to charity. And I have not found it. It is public record that he only pays 2.5% taxes on his income, because U2 has a special tax dodge arrangement, in which it is chartered not in Ireland or the UK, but in the Netherlands. So U2 pays less taxes than an ordinary lower middle class European. And a lower % of their income in taxes than millions of POOR people in Europe. And yet they take in hundreds of millions of dollars.

They want Britain and America to give billions more each year to Africa, yet they do not want to chip in ANY OF IT.

If anyone can find any news article that shows that Bono has given any actual MONEY to charity, please post it. I am not talking about benefit concerts. I am not talking about donation a guitar to be auctioned off for charity. I am talking about any actual SACRIFICE Bono has made that would partially offset him cheating his government out of $80 million dollars in Taxes

---- added on wed , May 26 2010....

if u want info... go to the wiki, there is a whole section on his humanitarian work. he may not have personally shoveled out billions like we want him too, but maybe that is because he knows that is not the answer. His approach to helping the planet is more precise than just throwing money and the problem. He has co-founded many organizations and put on numerous charity concerts. There is too much to list so please go to wiki . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bono
