In a statement, Monterona added the latest SWS survey on unemployment is a "slap on the face of Pres.Benigno Aquino III and his labor honchos who stated that it will stop sending Filipino workers abroad."

"The reality is, the government will continue to do so and even intensify its labor export program by exploring labor markets abroad, no difference from the previous administrations," Monterona averred.

About 4,200 Filipinos are leaving the country daily for work or looking for jobs abroad compared to the 3,200 two years ago, according to Monterona.

"With the worsening unemployment problem, the number of Filipinos forced to leave the country for overseasjob will increase to around three to 5 percent from the current base figure of 4,200 daily in two to 3 year time."

The group also slammed the country's labor department, saying, "The DoLE would make us believe that the unemployment problem is due to 'job mismatch'. The fact is the Aquino administration performs poorly in generating local jobs with decent pay and benefits primarily due to anti-labor policies such as labor-contracting only, among others."

While direct financial exposure to problematic investments and financial institutions is limited, the impact of external shocks to economic growth, poverty alleviation, employment, remittances, credit availability, and overall investment prospects is a concern.

One of the primary economic problems in the Philippines is the political unrest. Investors do not want to put money into such a volatile country. The solution is for people to come together to make their government more stable so the economy can grow to its fullest.

Agriculture is important because it is the source of food (the major component of household expenditure in the Philippines) for the economy. Aside from that, it is the source of foreign exchange, the number of laborers that can be absorbed , the source of raw materials for manufacturing and related industries, and a potential market for products of other economic sectors.

It is really quite difficult to say this because there are different points of view given by the different officials, agencies that conduct surveys, and the people of the Philippines. Corruption is definitely one of the problems seen by the citizen and the government as well. There has been lots of controversies relative to government officials being involved with money issues. The thing is that even though there are hearings and investigations, the truth never seems to come out--whether it's positive or negative news. Poverty and employment would also be among the problems. There are more people that are going hungry. And with the current problem with international economics, more people are losing their jobs.
