If you can play piano can you play the keyboard?
Of course! A keyboard is just a little smaller, but the concept is the same!
You can for the first year or two, but after that, save yourself some frustration and invest in a real piano. The keys of a piano feel and play a little differently, but there is no difference between the two in the way you would learn to play.

Why is a laptop keyboard different from a PC keyboard?
Keyboards are different in laptops when compared to desktop PCs, because of various reasons primary one being space constraints in terms of dimensions (both length, breadth and height). For laptops keyboard has to be integrated as part of the machine body. Laptops will be far bigger in size if similar layout and size of keyboards were used. Also due to height/thickness restrictions on laptops the vertical movement on keys (amount of depth for which the keys are pressed) is also less compared to desktop PC keyboards.
What material are the black piano keys?
Classically, they were made of ebony wood, but ebony is much too scarce and expensive to be used now, so today they are made of a very hard wood (typically maple or rosewood) polished very smooth, and coated with a plastic resin or black lacquer.,
How much does a piano stool cost?
Grand Piano benches are usually either 18" or 19" high. Jansen and GRK benches are 19", Poeschl and Schaff benches are 18". Often times the better choice is to get an adjustable piano bench. Height adjustments on these benches range from 18" - 21" or 22". They are also padded for extra comfort. Adjustable benches are a great choice for children because the height can be changed as they grow.

No, they are considered percussion instruments because the strings in the piano are hit with felted hammers.
Who are the 3 famous piano composers?
Schoolchildren used to be given the memory aid, "The 3 Bs -- Bach, Beethoven and Brahms." As with many old-fashioned and simplistic rules, there are both good and bad reasons to follow it. These three German composers conveniently represent three major periods of classical music. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) helped bring the Baroque period to a splendid conclusion at the time of his death, and he was adept at borrowing attractive ideas from foreign composers, particularly Italians and Frenchmen. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) built upon the accomplishments of the Viennese Classicists like Mozart and Haydn and brought music to a more expressive, often quite exciting level For some people, he is the most successful composer on account of his unmatched popularity. Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) likewise learned from the earlier two and capitalized on the expanded capabilities of musicians in the Romantic period to leave a rich legacy of beautiful but sometimes technically difficult music.
Limiting it to three composers, you could do worse, but this leaves out A LOT of worthy musicians, including those from earlier and later periods of music. It also leaves unmentioned many composers who specialized in certain genres like opera, ballet, educational music and sacred music. Perhaps it should be clarified that we're talking about "art music" of so-called "Western civilization," meaning that accomplished musicians in the popular or commercial fields are omitted, as are those in non-European-based cultures.
And in the end, of course, everyone has his or her favorites that may or may not be universally admired. If your heart has a special place for a neighborhood garage band, a forgotten blues singer, or even the lady down the road who sings while she sells strawberries, you need not apologize.
What music family is the piano?
It's percussion because the strings are hit with hammers. It can be classified as a percussion or string instrument.
The piano is in the percussion family because the sound is generated from little hammers and wires inside. When you press a piano key, the hammer hits the wire, producing sound. The action of the hammer hitting the wire is what classifies it as a percussion instrument, like when hit hit a mallet on a bell kit.
How long would it take to learn a piano piece?
The time it takes to learn how to efficiently play piano is all up to you. If you put the time and the effort in, you could be playing very well in a few months. If it's a casual hobby and you aren't pushing yourself, it could take a few years.
One suggestion is to practice with a teacher for 3-10 sessions, then continue with "Teach yourself" material like "Teach Yourself Visually" or "Alfred's" or (My Favorite) "John Thompson" .... and not difficult hand exercises of Hanon or ...
Then continue practicing EVERYDAY for a full year, between 30min to an hour.
I assure you that by then, you'll be able to play lot's of fakebooks.
If your intention is to impress your mate, or have a share on some party fun, one year is all you need.
Just practice as much as you can, try new things, and learn new songs.
Don't drink or smoke when practicing. You'll need your full neurotic powers.

What are the piano notes for Minuet in G?
Assuming that G is the root of the minor seventh chord, the chord is as follows: G B-flat D and F.
In most cases, this format of indicating "G minor seventh" or "g7" is usually found in shorthand jazz chords or guitar chords. This is not to be confused with "The Dominant Minor Seventh of G minor," which will usually confuse even more technically practiced individuals.
Is a piano stringed or percussion?
Yes! The piano is both a percussion instrument and a string instrument. Sound is created when a pianist strikes a key, which causes a hammer to hit a string. Because the hammer hits the string, it is considered percussive.
Yes it is considered as a Perscussion instrument due to the hammers that hit the strings inside the piano to produce vibration on the strings that cause it to make sounds.
Certainly it is not a stringed instrument or by the same logic a cymbal would be a brass instrument.
Technically the piano can be classified as a percussion instrument, because the sound is made from hammers 'hitting' strings, which vibrate and produce specific notes. In this case, it can be grouped with instruments such as the xylophone, or timpani. However, the harpsichord, although similar, is not classified as a percussion instrument as the strings are plucked, rather than hit.
Keyboard instruments are numbered among the percussion instruments in Orchestras and bands, not so much because of their mechanisms, but because it is easier than trying to associate them with multiple sections. Sometimes, this leads to inverted definitions, such as:
Yes, since the hammer strikes the string to produce sound, it is technically a percussion instrument. Other variations such as the Harpsichord are not though, since the string is plucked rather than struck.
While this is true of the piano when it is used as a percussion instrument, with sharp chords or percussive playing of musical lines, the piano is capable of great versatility, and can be considered as a solo instrument, a section unto itself, part of the percussion section, or part of no section at all. In St. Saens Symphony #3, called the "Organ Symphony", the piano is most often treated as a harmonic instrument, sometimes as a soloist, and sometimes as percussion. In cases where the Piano does not serve a clearly percussive function, it is better to consider it as not belonging to a section, per se, like the Harp or the Saxophone: an instrument added to the orchestra without becoming a permanent part.
There are other instruments which are played similarly to the Piano, with the three-two sharp/flat groupings within a natural scale of seven notes (before the repeating octave). These include the Celeste, Marimba, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Orchestra Bells, Chimes, and Organ. While the Celeste is generally considered part of the percussion section, and placed within the bounds of the percussion instruments, and the others named (minus the Organ) use mallets held by percussionists and used to strike the tonal bars or tubes of the instrument, the Organ is generally not considered a percussion instrument.
Two others are worthy of mention: the Harpsichord and Clavichord, which use the same keyboard arrangement as the piano. The Clavichord strikes strings with a metal tangent when the key is pressed, but is so quiet that it is not used except as a solo instrument (usually in a small, quiet room). The harpsichord was the mainstay of harmony and rhythm in late Renaissance and Baroque orchestras, lasting in orchestral performance until the piano replaced it. Neither of these would be considered part of the percussion section, not because of their method of sound production nor their keyboards, but rather because the Harpsichord would only appear with a modern symphony under very special conditions, and the clavichord wouldn't be bothered with, at all.
What type of instrument is piano?
Piano is a tough instrument to categorize. Some say "percussion" because you create sound by striking the instrument. Some say "string" because vibrating strings is how the sound is made. If I had to choose between them I'd choose "string instrument" because the reasoning for it being a percussion instrument, IMO, is not very sound. Yes you strike the instrument to make sound, but it's not you making the sound - it's the hammer striking the strings much like the dulcimer.
Apply the "percussion" argument to other keyed instruments and you can see more clearly how it's a misnomer. Is the organ a percussion instrument because you're striking the keys? And then there's electronic keyboards - are they percussion instruments? See how we're getting really far out on a limb to rationalize calling piano a percussion instrument.
This, and the other examples I gave, is why I like to use "keyboard instrument" as a classification all its own. It allows for an accurate description of how you make sound with the instrument, much like the definition of percussion (striking a membrane or solid object). I like to tell people that if they don't like the idea of "inventing" a new category, then call it a string instrument because that's what it is! :)
