The way that this book was written would NOT appeal to any kind of teenagers. I read this for my literature class, and I'm 18, an even I found the language hard to understand. The overall story is really good, and teaches good lessons, but, it is kinda of predictable. I would recommend it for older readers, but not for young teenagers. === === I don't agree. I'm 15, and I understand the book perfectly. If you understand what the basics of the book are then the language becomes easier to understand.

Darcy dislikes Wickham due to their past history. Wickham attempted to elope with Darcy's sister and spread lies about Darcy, causing Darcy to believe Wickham is untrustworthy and deceitful. Additionally, Wickham displays an irresponsible and manipulative nature which further contributes to Darcy's negative opinion of him.

At first, he was incredulous, being convinced that Elisabeth hated Mr. Darcy. When she assured him that her sentiments have changed radically along the way, he was happy for her. He was also glad that he didn't have to pay back Lydia's dowry, which the thought he owed his brother-in-law, but it was paid by Mr. Darcy instead.

She walks over to Netherfield house and gets her petticoat filthy, she rejects Mr Collins' proposal and she blatantly answers back as Lady Catherin tells her nothing she has is good enough for her nephew.

Their only two options seem to be to marry or to become dependent on some wealthy relative, such as the Gardiners.

Unfortunately, their prospects for marriage are not very great. They have no dowry, unlike Mary King or Georgiana Darcy. Also, as girls coming of age during the Napoleonic Wars, they face stiff competition for men because many young men have gone off to war (a point not explicitly made in the novel, but about a quarter to a third of all the young women would never marry).

If the girls cannot marry before Mr. Bennet dies, they will be poor and unable to attract husbands.
