Why did the leaders of Mecca give Muhammad control of the city?

When Muhammad arrived in Mecca, he came for the sole purpose of cleansing it, in other words; to conquer it. When he did so, no-one put up a fight and, even the leaders submitted to his army. They knew now that they could no longer pose a threat to the ever-growing band of Muhammad's followers and that resisting would lead to unnecessary bloodshed, for a lost cause. Thus, having militarily defeated the Meccans, the Muslims took over Mecca and, due to Muhammad being their leader, it was only fitting for him to be handed over the control.

Why did Abu Sufyan oppose Islam and Prophet Muhammad?

Abu Sufyan and the Meccans did not oppose Muhammad arbitrarily. They had specific grievances, which included:

Preserving Religious Plurality: Abu Sufyan opposed Muhammad because the religious plurality permitted in Mecca was critical for maintaining Mecca's important position along the Arabian trade routes. It was on account of the fact that Mecca was holy site for all Arabian faiths that spared it from internal conflict and allowed the flourishing of commerce in the city. Muhammad made clear that he intended to purge the idols from the Kaaba which would cause mass uproar and ended Mecca's position as a holy site for all Arabians.

Of course, what Abu Sufyan did not take into account is that nearly all Arabians would convert to Islam after the fall of Mecca.

Keeping His Own Power: Abu Sufyan was one of the Chief Leaders of the Qoreish Tribe and one of the most powerful men in all of Arabia. Should Mecca fall to the Muslims, he would certainly lose substantial power. Many Muslims hold that he was corrupt as well, meaning that he stood to face criminal acts if he were subject to Muhammad's authority.

Protecting Commerce: During Muhammad's Medinan Period, Muhammad organized and executed numerous raids on caravans heading to and leaving from Mecca, causing disruption to Arabian trade routes. Since Abu Sufyan was in an important position in Mecca, this was something he would be expected to ameliorate.

Polytheism: It was likely that Abu Sufyan was fighting in defense of Arabian henotheist religion to which he ascribed against Muhammad who would demand that he abandon all gods but Allah.

When are the 5 prayer times?

ANSWER 1

THE TIMES OF SALAAH (Vary According To Seasons)

Every Muslim, male or female, must offer their five daily praying (salah) at its prescribed time, if there are no lawful reasons for exemption, combination, or temporary delay. Salah (or praying) is the only Islam practice that no Muslim is exempted from doing it. Muslims may be exempted from fasting (oe Sawm), alms giving (or Zakah), and pilgrimage (or hajj) under certain conditions. However, for praying (or Salah) there is no exemption of performing it under any condition.

The specified time for the five prayings are:

1. The time for Fajr salaah: Approximately 90 minutes before sunrise a dim whitish glow appears vertically in the eastern horizon. Soon after this vertical glow, a brightness appears horizontally in the eastern horizon. This horizontal glow spreads instantly along the horizon becoming larger and larger until after a short while it becomes light. The time for Fajr salaah commences with the appearance of this horizontal glow in the eastern horizon. This time marked by the appearance of the horizontal glow is known as Fajrul Awwal or Subhus Sadiq (True Dawn). The time for Fajr salaah lasts until sunrise.

2. The time for Zuhr salaah: The time for Zuhr salaah begins immediately after mid-day. The time of midday or Zawal is calculated by dividing the hours of daylight by two, and adding the result to the time of sunrise, e.g: Sunrise at 6.30 a.m. and Sunset at 5.30 p.m. i.e. Number of Daylight hours = 11 hours Divide by two; 11 divided by 2 = 5 and 1/2 hours

Add to Sunrise time; 6.30 + 5.30=12.00

i.e. Mid-day will be at 12 p.m.

NOTE: It is forbidden to perform salaah at the time of Mid-day. After approximately five minutes (i.e. five minutes after Midday) Zuhr time commences. The time for Zuhr salaah lasts until the length of the shadow of an object becomes twice the size of the object plus the size of the shadow which was cast at the time of Mid-day.

3. Time for Asr salaah: Asr time begins immediately upon the expiry of Zuhr time, and lasts until sunset. However, it is makruh (reprehensible) to delay the performance of Asr salaah until the sun's rays become yellowish and dim, as is the case before sunset.

4. Time for Maghrib salaah: Maghrib time begins immediately after sunset and extends till the red or white glow in the western horizon disappears. Normally it extends over a period of one hour and twenty minutes to one and a half hours.

5. Time for Isha salaah: Isha time begins after the red glow in the western horizon disappears and continues till a little before dawn. It is noticeable that Islam has set the times of salaah in a way that combines peace of mind with relaxation of the body. Muslims, by observing these salaah, mark the whole day with a spiritual stamp in the beginning, at the end, and throughout. So they combine religion and life, feel the presence of Allah I within them throughout the day, conclude their daily transactions with a spiritual feeling and build up

their moral standing on strong foundations. In this way, Muslims introduce spiritual vitality into all aspects of their life, and religion presents itself to all fields of activity. It becomes effective in shops and offices, homes and farms, industrial plants and factories. It extends its light to every circle of business and work. Indeed, this timetable of salaah is remarkable because it is the work of Allah I and the product of Islam.

It is always preferable to offer the salaah as soon as the time sets in, incase something unexpected causes delay or postponement. These salaah are Divine tests. The reward for those who pass the tests is immeasurable, and their delight is beyond imagination. The happiness they attain, the rejoicing they feel, and the honour they receive cannot be expressed in words. On the other hand, failure in these tests is a punishable sin. It causes severe penalties, spiritual deprivation, mental agony, and social isolation.

Note: Ahl-i-Sunna generally offer prayers in the middle of the given times.

The Ahl-i- Hadith offer prayers in the beginning of the times. However,

there is no hard and fast difference between the two.

ANSWER 2

The five prayers and their times are:

Fajr (dawn)The Fajr prayer starts with the rise of "white light" (fajar sadiq) in the east, and lasts until sunrise. Dhuhr (midday)The Dhuhr prayer starts after the sun passes its zenith, and lasts until Asr. Asr (afternoon)The Asr prayer starts when the shadow of an object is the same length as the object itself (or, according to Hanafi School, twice its length) and lasts till sunset. Asr can be split into two sections; the preferred time is before the sun starts to turn orange, while the time of necessity (dharoori waqt) is from when the sun turns orange until sunset. Maghrib (sunset)The Maghrib prayer begins when the sun sets, and lasts till the red light has left the sky in the west. Isha'a (night)The Isha'a prayer starts when the red light is gone from the western sky, and lasts until the rise of the "white light" (fajar sadiq) in the east. The preferred time for Isha'a is before midnight, meaning halfway between sunset and sunrise.

Which two religions influenced Muhammad Judaism Christianity or Islam?

Answer 1

Neither of them. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not drink alcohols and didn't bow to an idol. He isolated himself from time to time in a cave to meditate to God as the one and only one God (who was worshiped by prophet Abraham) until the angel Gabriel recited to him the first God Quran revelations to him. How did Muhammad be influenced by Christians and/or Jews while Quran was revealed by God to correct for the deviations and alterations that were introduced to the the Bible and Torah. Refer to question below.

Answer 2

Mohammed did have strong influences from both Jews and Christians. He incorporated much of Jewish and Christian lore and eschatology into the cultural aspects of Islam. Mohammed could not have been inspired by the ritual practices of Islam since he was the revealer of the Qur'an and Hadith (which are the basis of ritual Islam). Most Muslims would argue, though, that while Mohammed did reference the Bible, he was sent to correct its imperfections showing a connection with Judaism and Christianity, but not any influence of their worldview.

What was the age of sawda bint zama when she married prophet mohamed saw?

We don't know because her age is not recorded anywhere. But here are our clues.

(1) Tabari says that she died in Shawwal 54 (September/October 674). If Muhammad had been alive by that date (he wasn't, of course) he would have been 104 years old! So Sawda was probably younger than Muhammad.

(2)Muhammad considered divorcing Sawda "because she grew old". This probably means "because she reached menopause," and it was probably in early 627. So we know she was 45+ at that time.

There are problems with this information. Tabari has been wrong over details before. I once read that Sawda died twenty years earlier than this, but that was in an unreferenced tertiary source, so I shall ignore that evidence. Also, we don't really know the date when Muhammed began to divorce her: although early 627 was a time when divorcing Sawda would have been very convenient to him, you basically have to slap on a "plus or minus five years" to that date.

So my best guess is that Sawda was born in the early 580s and was probably close to forty when she married Muhammad in 620. This makes her well over ninety when she died, which is impressive but by no means impossible.
_______________________________________________________________

Sawda bint Zam'a, may Allah be pleased with her had been the first woman to immigrate to Abyssinia in the way of Allah. Her husband ha died and she was now living with her aged father. She was middle-aged, rather plump, with a jolly, kindly disposition, and just the right person to take care of the Prophet's household and family. So Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave permission to Khawla to speak to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and to Sawda on the subject. Khawla went straight to Sawda and said, "Would you like Allah to give you great blessing, Sawda?" Sawda asked, "And what is that, Khawla?" She said, "The Messenger of Allah has sent me to you with a proposal of marriage!" Sawda tried to contain herself in spite of her utter astonishment and then replied in a trembling voice, "I would like that! Go to my father and tell him that." Khawla went to Zam'a, ad gruff old man, and greeted him and then said, "Muhammad son of Abdullah son of Abdul Muttalib, has sent me to ask for Sawda in marriage." The old man shouted, "A noble match. What does she say?" Khawla replied, "she would like that." He told her to call her. When she came, he said, "Sawda, this woman claims that Muhammad son of Abdullah son of Abdul Muttalib has sent me to ask for you in marriage. It is a noble match. Do you want me to marry you to him?" She accepted, feeling it was a great honor. Sawda went to live in Muhammad's house and immediately took over the care of his daughters and household, while Aisha bint Abu Bakr became betrothed to him and remained in her father's house playing with her dolls.

There was great surprise in Mecca that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would choose to marry a widow who was neither young nor beautiful.
When she was older, the prophet was worried that Sawda might be upset about having to compete with the prophet younger wives, and offered to divorce her. She said that she would give her night to Aisha, of whom she was very fond, because she only wanted to be his wife on the Day of Rising. She lived on until the end of the time of Umar ibn al Khattab. She and Aisha always remained very close.
Sawda bint Zama: Sawda bint Zamʿa ibn Qayyis ibn ʿAbd Shams was a wife of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and considered by Muslims to be a Mother of the Believers.
  • Marriage with Muhammad between 0619 and June 8th, 0632 (13 years)
  • died in 0674 (1339 years ago)

Muhammad married her in Shawwal, in the tenth year of His Prophethood, a few days after the death of Khadijah. Prior to that, she was married to a paternal cousin of hers called As-Sakran bin ‘Amr. She was considered homely and was older than Muhammad. However, some claim that she can not be older than Muhammad, if she really died in October 674 as mentioned above. Since Muhammad was born in 570, that would mean that she has lived more than 104 years which is less likely in those days,
