Prophet Muhammad

Muhammad was the founder of the Islam religion. Considered by Muslims to be a messenger of God, Muhammad was born in 570 and his revelations from God make up the verses of the Qu'ran, the sacred text at the center of Islam. Muhammad died in 632 at the age of 62. Ask questions here about his life and his founding of one of the world's major religions.

Why do Muslims treat Christians badly?

Answer 1

Who said that! they're exactly the same apart from Muslims pray 5 times a day and don't believe Jesus is the son of god.

Answer 2

No. They are not exactly the same and are in fact quite different religions. As concerns the issue of respect, Muslims are typically more concerned about the world insulting their traditions and their prophets than they are in pursuing a true and lasting equality with other religions. This was an attitude that most Christians had 500 years ago, but Christendom has become more open and accepting of other positions in the interim.

Christians in the Arab World are still treated as second class citizens because that is the place accorded them in the Qur'an. They are called "Dhimmi" which means that they are protected by Muslims. However, it raises the question "protected from what or from whom?". In the medieval period, before the Enlightenment and the creation of Natural Rights, a person only had what privileges were extended to him from the rulers and did not have the ability to claim that because he was a human being that he was entitled to some basic forms of respect. Muslims still operate on this premise of granted authority as concerns religious values. Christianity only has permission to perform religious actions not the liberty to perform them.

What is the main significance of Muhammad?

The same significance of Jesus Christ to the Christians, Zoroaster to Zoroasters.

Answer

The same significance of Jesus Christ (Peace be upon Him) to the Christians but in the sense of his true prophethood though Jesus and the Holy book Injil (bible) was sent only to his people (Israel) whereas Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and the Holy Qura'n was sent to the whole world as a last Prophet.

The mission of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon hime) was to get people at large to understand so that they may believe One True God (Allah), the Creator and sustainer of the universe, as taught by Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) and all other Prophets of God including Jesus, Moses, David and more (peace be upon them all). His mission was also to demonstrate and preach the laws of moral, ethical, legal, social conduct and matters of significance for the humanity at large.

Long before granting the role of a prophet by Allah, Muhammad was popularly known as Sadiq (Truthful) and Al-Ameen (someone who can be trusted with people's trusts).

He is a Prophet Like Moses as prophesied in the Holy Bible as

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses), and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." Deut.18:18.

SAY: "DO YOU SEE ?

WHETHER THIS MESSAGE BE FROM ALLAH (God Almighty),

AND YET YOU REJECT IT, AND A WITNESS FROM AMONG THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL BORE WITNESS OF ONE LIKE HIM......." (Holy Qur'an 46:10)

Muhammad had been responsible for the bringing into being a world-wide community of millions of Believers who, believe in:

(1) the miraculous birth of Jesus,

(2) that Jesus is the Messiah, and

(3) that he gave life to the dead by God's permission, and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by God's permission.

Let me add some comments (out of enormous numbers of them) by famous non Muslim brothers on Mohammad(p.b.u.h.):

Thomas Carlyle in 'Heroes and Hero Worship and the Heroic in History,' 1840"The lies (Western slander) which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man (Muhammad) are disgraceful to ourselves only.""A silent great soul, one of that who cannot but be earnest. He was to kindle the world, the world's Maker had ordered so."A. S. Tritton in 'Islam,' 1951The picture of the Muslim soldier advancing with a sword in one hand and the Qur'an in the other is quite false.De Lacy O'Leary in 'Islam at the Crossroads,' London, 1923.History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated.James Michener in 'Islam: The Misunderstood Religion,' Reader's Digest, May 1955, pp. 68-70.

"No other religion in history spread so rapidly as Islam. The West has widely believed that this surge of religion was made possible by the sword. But no modern scholar accepts this idea, and the Qur'an is explicit in the support of the freedom of conscience."

He built a mosque (Masjid An-Nabawwi). Why did Muhammad have a hard time in Mecca to accept his teachings?

The tribe of Quraish, which ruled Mecca at the time Muhammad was called to his mission, made their income through pilgrims who would come to Mecca to worship their own tribal gods. Though they knew of their ancestor Abraham - and the Oneness of God - they fell into idol worship and, therefore, became wealthy catering to all the idol worshippers from the Middle East and Africa.

When Muhammad came, he was calling them to the belief that "There is no true god except the One God" and that "Muhammad is His Messenger".

That meant that the very livelihood of Quraish was threatened. No longer could they worship three hundred plus gods - they had to worship and obey the One God alone. Also, no longer could they gamble and drink and commit adultery. And no longer could they make up their own rules - they had to obey the Messenger of God.

That is why they persecuted Muhammad and his followers for ten years in Mecca; then they waged war on them for another thirteen years after Muhammad and his followers moved to Medinah.

What are the different Muslim attitudes towards other religions?

The main religious teachings found in the Koran and Hadith, have many 'suras' that teach Islam is the only way and all other views need to be assimilated or discarded. Islam has, however, respected other religions to some point. However, there are some Islamic extremists who believe anyone that is not a Muslim is condemned. Currently, ISIS/ISIL is trying to form a 'caliphate' where only Islam will be tolerated. They desire to convert the entire world - primarily through non-peaceful means.

Did mohammed the prophet have children?

Yes, Ismail had children. We know he had children because Ismail's later descendants from these children, who came to be the northern Arabs, included Prophet Muhammad (S) and his family. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the great nation in which God promised Ismail in the Book of Genesis, where it says:

"And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of 12 rulers, and I will make them into a great nation." (Genesis 17:20)

Was mohammed a paeodophile?

Answer A

The simple answer is no. However the answer is more complex than it might look on the surface.

One of Muhammad's wives was Ayesha or Aisha. Depending on what sources are used her age at marriage is sometimes put at 6 and consummation at 9. However there are a number of facts which need to be factored in.

1: Not all sources agree with Bukhari about Ayesha's age, Bukhari's Hadith were not collated until 300-odd years after Muhammad's death. Other sources give Ayesha's age as being 16 at marriage and 19 at consummation.

2: Even if her age were 6 / 9, the custom of taking child brides was a part of Middle-Eastern culture. The Jews practised it as well as many of the other nations in the Middle-East and remember too that Mary of Nazareth's age was probably around the 12-14 mark.

3: Pedophilia is both a sexual dysfunction and a legal one. Muhammad's others wives were adult women with who he apparently had very good relations. This would not normally be the case for a pedophile.

4: Customs and Traditions as well as laws were very different then from now. What is considered unacceptable now was not considered anything to comment about then.

Answer B

No. there is no mention of Prophet Muhammad being a pedophile. Prophet Muhammad was a spiritual, political, and religious leader.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not pedophile. What said about his marriage from Aisha (God be pleased with her) at age 6 is not true. Aisha was 19 years old when she got married with prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who was at 54 years. Another important point to be stated here is that Aisha (God be pleased with her) was engaged to another one before prophet Muhammad then this engagement was broken before being engaged to the prophet.

Aisha was 19 years old when she got married. This was in the year 2 A.H. or around year 624 AD. Prophet Mohamed was around 54 years old when married with Aisha (he was born in year 570 AD).

Who was prophet mohammed's father?

http://www.mechon-mamre.org/e/et/et0202.htm I checked that source, and the World Book Encyclopedia that I own, an old edition but still good for certain things such as this for instance, and neither one could give his name. Apparently, no one knows, not even Jews. Exodus (from the Hebrew Bible) Chapter 2; "1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. " Oh yeah, also, in Exodus Chapter 2, it mentions, that Mose's wife (Moses, Musa, same thing), was in fact an Arab woman; 15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dweltin the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well. 16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters; and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. 17 And the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. 18And when they came to Reuel their father, he said: 'How is it that ye are come so soon to-day?' 19 And they said: 'An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock.' 20 And he said unto his daughters: 'And where is he? Why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.' 21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man; and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. 22 And she bore a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said: 'I have been a stranger in a strange land.' Midian in the bible, is what is now Saudi Arabia, the area of the border with Jordan and Egypt. The Midianites though, were not Ishmaelites, they were what are refered to in Saudi Arabia as the "classical Arabs," the Beduin tribes that dwelt in those lands since long before Ishmael came into the picture. Nevertheless that changes nothing; the fact remains that Mose's wife, was an Arab woman. Now, even though Moses was a prophet of God, who delivered the ancient Hebrews from Egyptian bondage, according to ashkenazi rules, Mose's son Gershom by Ziporah, is not a Jew. Even though Moses was a prophet of God so spiritually pure, he could do miracles, Gershom is STILL not a Jew. Silly little people those ashkenazi eh? [[User:67.148.120.72|67.148.120.72]]stardingo747

In what ways were the hijrah a turning point?

The emigration to Madinah was a very important step in the development of Islam. after Hijra, the proper Islamic state was developed and so the quranic commandments addressing communal affairs were revealed. Muhammad was able to concentrate solely on delivering the true message of Islam once he was away from the violence of Makkah. Hijra also saved the early muslism from the tyranny of makkans otherwise, the new religion would have perished in the dust of Makkah.

What did Muhammad said that he was?

He is the Prophet of god, just like Abraham and Jesus. Muslims believe he was the last Prophet

What are the duties of a prophet?

Some of the duties of a true prophet of God are:

1) To call people to worship the One God alone - with no partners, no offspring, no father, no mother, no daughter and no son. The One and Only True God.

2) To be the best example of the message.

3) To teach people wisdom.

4) To teach the believers to purify themselves - spiritually as well as physically.

5) To deliver a scripture (if he is a messenger who is given revelation. Some prophets were messengers and some were not).

6) To bring the good news of Paradise for those who believe in the One God and obey Him, and to bring the warning of Hell for those who reject and do evil.

7) To fight against all those who fight the message or the believers. Not being an aggressor, not being an oppressor; but fighting the enemies of God who are, themselves, the aggressors and the oppressors.
