Do two Neatherland dwarf rabbits get along?

What gender are the rabbits? If both Netherland Dwarfs are bucks then it is almost a guarantee that they will not get along. Bucks are extremely aggressive to other bucks and will even fight until death. If both of the rabbits are females, then there is a chance they will get along when they are young, but as they reach maturity they may start fighting. Of course, this does depends on each rabbits personality. The best combination of two Netherland Dwarfs would be a fixed buck and a doe. The buck must be fixed or you will get lots of babies (which is not good on the doe's body). Rabbits generally do best when they are caged separately, although there are exceptional cases where two rabbits get along just fine. The choice is up to the owner, but there are always unpredictable risks when putting two rabbits together.

Do female rabbits have extra fur around their neck and legs?

Should i leave the baby rabbits where they are if they are not in a nesting box?

Is the mother a wild rabbit and you just found the baby rabbits? If so, leave them where they are.

If the mother is Domestic and inside, as long as the room they are kept in is warm they should be fine. If they are outside in a hutch, a nesting box would be advised.

My rabbit comes into the house twice a day an hour every morning night but I've recently been told that temperature change can be very dangerous to your bunny is this true if it is what should I do?

First off, you might consider bringing your rabbit into the house permanently unless it is simply impossible. House rabbits live longer than rabbits kept outdoors. You can also better regulate temperature for your rabbit if you allow it to stay in a climate-controlled environment.

If you are absolutely unable to move your rabbit indoors full-time, you can try the following:

1. Give your rabbit a couple of hard-shelled plastic freezer packs (to avoid damage by teeth), or freeze water in old bottles and place them where your rabbit likes to lie. 2. Provide a fan that your rabbit can sit near. Some rabbits do not like a direct breeze, so position it to create a cool air flow. 3. Make sure your rabbit is hydrated! Easy access to several water sources is ideal, and if your rabbit will drink from a bowl you can try leaving a handful of ice cubes in the water to keep it cool for an extended period of time. 4. Air conditioning. This may seem obvious, but if you can afford a cheap a/c unit for the room where your rabbit spends most of its time, your rabbit will be more comfortable. Remember that your rabbit's fur coat is the equivalent of you wearing a sweater at all times - if you think you'd be too warm in a sweater, chances are your rabbit is already too warm. Lastly, if your rabbit is overheated and can't be cooled down by a shallow bath in a lukewarm water, you may have a medical emergency on your hands. If your rabbit begins to act ill or lethargic, seek veterinary treatment immediately.

I know rabbits lick you when they love you but why want she stop she just keeps on licking?

Rabbits lick as a form of grooming and bonding behavior, not necessarily just to show love. If your rabbit keeps licking you excessively, it may be a sign that they are stressed, bored, or seeking attention. Providing them with more mental stimulation and social interaction may help reduce the excessive licking.

How do you know if your male rabbit is actually penetrating the female?

You can usually tell that the female is receptive if she arches her hind legs and hips toward behind her body. I have seen the female do this when the male stamped his feet in the kitchen, The male rabbit will other wise be humping the females tail and completely missing the vagina on the underside. Also the male will have to bite the females hair supposedly in order to get the bunny in the correct position, I know this because the male rabbit in the house right now hasn't gotten the female pregnant so obviously they're doing something wrong. _______________________________________________________________________

The best way I know a breeding took is the buck will mount the doe and do his business, and when he is successful he will roll/fall off sideways and do a strange grunt or sound (the sound is hard to explain, but you'll know it if you hear it). Also, once the buck has fallen off, feel the doe's stomach. It should feel "loose" and squishy instead of how it usually feels.

Why rabbits have long ears?

Rabbits have long ears to help regulate their body temperature. The large surface area of their ears helps them dissipate excess heat in warm weather, while the blood vessels in their ears help retain heat in cold weather. Additionally, their long ears also help them hear predators approaching.

If my rabbit is building a nest only 9 days into her pregnancy does that mean that it is a false pregnancy?

No, rabbits can start building nests around 7-10 days into pregnancy, so it does not necessarily indicate a false pregnancy. It's a normal nesting behavior exhibited by pregnant rabbits in preparation for giving birth. Monitor her behavior and consult a vet if you are unsure.

Why is a spayed female rabbit building a nest?

A spayed female rabbit may be building a nest due to hormonal instincts. Even though she cannot reproduce, the nesting behavior is a natural instinct for some rabbits. Providing alternative enrichment activities and ensuring she has a comfortable living environment may help redirect this behavior.

What is the purpose of a dewlap on a rabbit?

The dewlap is found mainly on female rabbits, although, in certain breeds, the males are also allowed a small one. Its purpose is to provide another area for the doe to pull fur from when she is making her nest for her kits.

Are rabbits herbivores?

Yes, rabbits (aka bunnies) are herbivores, being entirely vegetation-eating. They feed on grasses and leaves of weeds. They especially like leafy greens.

More Answers:

One opinion: Rabbits are commonly known as herbivores but they do sometimes eat their babies and therefore could eat other meat if they wanted to. Giving a rabbit meat will not kill it.

Disagreement: Giving a rabbit meat, dairy, eggs, or any animal products can upset its digestive system and, yes, lead to death! All kinds of mammals eat their afterbirth and sometimes their own babies: it doesn't mean they can eat eat in good health. Refer to the related questions and links below.

What is the best brush for a rabbit?

A soft-bristled brush, such as a slicker brush or a gentle grooming glove, is best for brushing a rabbit's coat. It is important to use a brush that is gentle on the rabbit's delicate skin and fur to avoid causing any discomfort or damage. Be sure to brush your rabbit regularly to prevent tangles and mats in their fur.

When is a cute rabbit not a rabbit any more?

A cute rabbit may not be considered a rabbit anymore if it undergoes a transformation, such as turning into a different creature through magic or a fantastical storyline. In these scenarios, even though it may still visually resemble a rabbit, its essence or nature may have changed, blurring the distinction between what it is and what it once was.

If you have a 2-year-old female rabbit and get a new rabbit can you keep them in the same cage or will they fight?

All rabbits are gregarious and like company. But never add a new rabbit into the existing rabbit's cage as they are very territorial and yours will attack the new one severely. Place the new rabbit in a cage/pen adjacent to your rabbit so they can smell each other and get used to each other. After a few days when they are aware of each other, swap their cages, without cleaning them out first, so they are each going into the other's territory with all the scents of the other still in place in the cage. Keep swapping daily for a few days. After a few days ofalternating cages, place both of them together in a completely neutral place - i.e. not the home of either of them - with distractions - eg. nice grub, and supervise how they behave together. Carry on in this way until you are confident that they have bonded. It may take up to 10 days or so from the time you get the new bunny. If you are intending to introduce a male for the purposes of breeding, this will take less time as his mere presence will bring the doe into season and she will be receptive to him, but it still holds true that she will attack him if you just put him into her territory as soon as you get him.

What is the problem if a rabbit keeps licking its lips repeatedly?

A rabbit might repeatedly lick its lips for many different reasons.

If your rabbit is doing this, look for other signs of ill-health -- see the related question below for details.

If you notice other bad signs, bring the rabbit to your usual "rabbit-savvy" vet as soon as possible. But, if in all other ways your rabbit is fine, then keep a very close eye on her, and just mention it at your next regular appointment. Be ready to bring your rabbit to the vet immediately if other bad signs develop.

Some possible reasons why a rabbit might lip its licks repeatedly:

  • It's dehydrated or thirsty. Make sure the rabbit has access to clean, fresh water in a clean container. Some rabbits like bowls, some rabbits like bottles, and some rabbits are fine with both. If it's a bottle, make sure it's clean and the spout isn't blocked. Replace the water and wash the container every day, even if the rabbit doesn't drink it all.
  • There's something uncomfortable in its mouth, for example tooth spurs that are rubbing against the tongue or cheeks and causing irritation and ulcers (wounds). Dental spurs can be caused by feeding too many pellets and not enough hay. Small dental spurs sometimes wear down on their own, but sometimes they don't and they need to be clipped off or ground down by the vet.

Is it okay for rabbits to eat their feces?

Yes, it is normal for rabbits to eat their droppings, although rabbits don't really eat their feces: they eat their cecotropes (also known as cecals or "night droppings").

Feces are round dry droppings seen around the rabbit's territory and in the litter box. A rabbit might sometimes sniff or nibble at a fecal pellet, or might accidentally take on in its mouth while eating cecotropes, but not really eat them.

Cecotropes are often not seen by humans because they're taken straight from the anus, but they look like dark small mushy blobs, sometimes in grape formation, and sometimes they're very smelly. Cecotropes are packed with nutrients that rabbits need to survive. Cecotrophy is a process of re-digestion that allows the rabbit to absorb all the nutrients and get the most out of its food. Rabbits eating cecals is basically the same idea as cows chewing the cud. Baby rabbits eat their mother's cecals as well as drink her milk. Rabbits will redigest their droppings up to as much as 12 times for remaining nutrients.

There are some people out there that belive animals dont have any feelings and belive they are a much higher standard. I dont belive in killing animals (other than a nice mcdonalds now and again lol)

Apparently its illegal in most countries to use animals in experimants now.
