Mini felt closer to this unknown fellow who gave her lots of almonds and raisins. But everything changed when Rahmun was sent to jail for murderous assault. Time passed by and Mini is now getting married. During the wedding night, Rahmun paid a visit to see Mini only to find out that she has forgotten him a long time ago. The Cabuliwallah explains to Mini's father that he also has a daughter like Mini. Rahmun misses his daughter so much and that's why he felt close to Mini. Touched by the Cabuliwallah's story, Mini's father realized that all fathers are the same-- whether you are a writer or a Cabuliwallah.

Mahamaya is a Kulin's Daughter. one day she was asked to go to the ruined temple on the river bank. Rajib, her playmate in childhood was there. Rajib asked her to marry him but she said no. Mahamaya then married a dying old man (she was forced by her brother). The man died the next day. Mahamaya was to be burned allong with the body of her husband. Rajib was very sad. On that day, it rained. Rajid heard a knock on the door. It was Mahamaya, but she had a veil on her head. She said to Rajib that she would live with him if he promises not to remove her veil, EVER! Rajib then agreed to this. Rajib and Mahamaya lived together for a long time. One night Rajib just couldn't stand not seeing the beautiful face of the woman he loves. He removes the veil and sees that her cheek was burned. Mahamaya woke up and realized that Rajib removed her veil. She left Rajib alone without a word and was never seen again.

It is true that Lord Curson's cunning partition in 1905 of his native Bengal into Muslim and Hindu Bengals as part of the notorious policy of Divide and Rule heart-broke and frustrated the poet, the strong emotions emanating from which are reflected here. It is relevant to note that Tagore was a dedicated and committed national leader too.

The ancient stream of reason which once flowed clear and unhampered through the ages has now lost it's way into the desert sand of Un-Indian dead habits. A God-fearing nation has now become captainless and the once-ever widening thought and action of a mighty people, have stuck where it has been decades back. So he prays to God to raise his country into that heaven of freedom where everything is opposite. Even though disguisedly pungent, this poem contains exquisite music as was usual with all Tagore songs.
