What could be causing my belts to break on my 1983 Shasta motorhome with a 454 Chevy engine?
Forcing the belt on can damage the load carrying cords and cause premature failure. Are you sure you have the right belt? Installing the wrong type belt, tightening the belt too tight, or too loose, or pulley misalignment will all cause it to fail. If it has an idler pulley, it may be bad. If it has a tensioner, it may be bad. Maybe you routed the belt incorrectly. Yes, it is possible to get the belt wrapped around all the pulleys in what seems to be the right way but have it wrong. Check the belt-routing diagram, which on many cars is on an under-hood label. Make sure all the drive belts have the correct deflection. There is a remote chance the water pump is faulty. Try removing the belt and spinning the water pump by hand. It should spin free with no noise. Correct tension is critical to the belt performance. As I do not know what type belt we are talking about, contact your local Chevy dealer and ask them what the correct tension should be.
Here is where to start. Somewhere in the motorhome. Inside the drivers door, or inside one of the closets, there should be a label with weight ratings for the motorhome and each axel, including tire specifications. You want to find the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) from this label. Subtract GVWR from the GCWR to get the tow capacity.
This is assuming that you can or may load the unit to the GVWR rating. If you know you don't, you could theoretically add the difference between actual weight and GVWR to the tow rating.
Two additional checks should be done to verify you are safe: One is to check the rating of the receiver, hitch, ball, and any adapters. They should all be stamped with their individual ratings, both towing capacity and hitch weight - none should be exceeded, even if the motorhome itself can handle the weight. Last is the same sticker will give you individual weight ratings for each axle. You should weigh each axle in the final configuration with the motorhome loaded and verify that you do not exceed the rating of any individual axles.
Hope this helps,
Eric
Where is a Shasta camper's VIN?
I own a 1961 Shasta and trust me,I couldn't find the VIN for quite some time. I found the answer online and now I know! The metal frame that comes out from under the trailer and forms a "V" shape otherwise known as the "tongue" will have stamped on the outside surface the VIN. If it's been painted, you may have to scrape the paint down to see it. If you're standing in front of the trailer,it'll be on the left side of the "V" or tongue. At least that's where mine is. If you still can't find it,E-mail me and I'll send you pictures of where it is. fherrmann@rochester.rr.com
I don't have a Shasta, but I found mine on a sticker on the inside of one of the cabinets.
What oil filter and oil amount 360 dodge jamboree motorhome?
Any auto parts store can sell you the correct filter. As to the amount of oil it holds, that is easy to find. Park the vehicle on a level surface, drain out all oil, and replace the filter. Add 5 quarts of oil, start the vehicle and run for 45 seconds. Shut the engine off and wait 45 minutes. Check the oil level and add oil if necessary. Now you know the amount it holds.

I think the movie you're talking about is Judgment Night, starring Emilio Estevez, Cuba, Stephen Dorff and Jeremy Piven as the friends, and Dennis Leary as the bad guy. The friends are on their way to a concert and they take a shortcut to avoid traffic. They get lost, end up in a bad neighborhood and witness a murder. From that moment on, they are marked for death and spend the rest of the movie trying to escape Leary.

You signed a contract for a car but have not left the lot with it Is this contract binding?
Not in California. * In most instances the contract is binding when money has "changed hands". If this were not so, car dealers would have serious financial and inventory problems, as most vehicles that are bought have a waiting period for delivery. Therefore, a lawsuit will likely stand up in court if the dealer chooses to pursue damages for breach of contract on the part of the buyer.
