The only reason Robin Hood is not a highway man is because in his day highways hadn't yet been invented. (Actually the Roman had highways but once their Empire collapsed nobody built highways again for a long long time). But in every other way Robin Hood is indeed a highway man.

No.The story comes from the 1200's when it was an oral poem. People couldn't read so stories were created that were poems. They were easy to remember and to retell. Through the ages the story has changed. Characters have been added, changed, and forgotten. In modern times the story keeps changing because of the movies and new books. The term " hood" was used for the highway robber of the time because they wore a hood over the face. Anyone who was a criminal was a "hood".

In Disney's animated Robin Hood (1973) he is voiced by Pat Buttram. And of course, in Robin Hood:Men In Tights (1993) he is played by Roger Rees, however in that movie he is the Sheriff of Rottingham.

The Old Robin Hood Apartments were located on Robin Hood Road, between Military Highway and Azalea Garden Road. The entire apartment complex was originally constructed ( pre and post war ) housing for the military, later transfered to private ownership. The constant poor and outdated building conditions made the complex a prime target for revitalization and approximately 1982, was demolished. Activists tried to get municipal funding to upgrade and improve the complex for the low income family and individuals that had called the apartment complex home for decades but failed, mainly because of zero tax revenues which would easily be recouped by introducing a modern business facility. The eventual ownership and development deal is a matter of public record and can be found in City of Norfolk public archives. In the place of the Robin Hood Apartment Complex was constructed the Robin Hood Industrial Park West complex for regional business expansion.
