They act as levers. By placing the oar in the water, the resistance then essentially fixes on end of the oar so it cannot move. Then, the gate at the end of the rigger acts as a pivot point to push the boat past this fixed point

Are your splits faster on sliders than on stationary ergs?

Generally yes. The reason for this is the recovery - whereas with stationary ergs you have to move the entirety of your body weight back and forth, on sliders it's only the ergo, and even that's aided by the bungees. It's much more efficient on the recovery and also to a lesser extent on the drive.

The main inefficiency comes at the ends of each phase when you have to reverse direction. You have to apply force to change the momentum, and you have to apply that much more to change momentum of a heavy human body.

Rate is much easier to achieve on sliders, too.

How do you lose 2 stone quick?

I have managed to lose 20lb in 2 months but my daughter lost 2 stones in 2 months. Her diet basically - including exercise. half an hour of Rosemary Connelly tapes then 15 mins on a small trampoline or 11 sessions. Dancing for one hour in the evening each day for two months...Time trampoline to each advert. I basically have cut out pasta, potatoes, flour, sugar, rice and all things nice. As you don't have bread so the butter goes too but I do stir frys with spray oil.I eat mainly chicken and veg or fish and veg. I have chicken curry with vegetables and no rice and it is great. Breakfast has changed. I threw away the bread and now having either eggs or some ham and salad Yes why not. The protein stops you being hungry. Snack on fruit or ryvita.I am never hungry and after a few days I found I am not as hungry as I used to be and to me this is the easiest diet I have done. I have not exercised much and should do more but 20lb have gone.I have been going swimming twice a week and have just joined a gym. I still have 2 stones to lose. I also had a friend of mine who lost a lot of weight by eating every two hours this increases your metabolic rate. He lost tons but ate small portions all day. He did cut out potato, bread, cut down on pasta ad rice. Good luck.
