The Samoyed are spitz-type dogs. Spitz breeds usually have long, thick fur, pointed ears and muzzles, and tails that curl over their backs. Other spitz breeds are the American Eskimo Dog, the Chow Chow, the Pomeranian, the Shiba Inu, and the Siberian Husky.
It depend on what you are looking for in a dog. Samoyeds are very lovable and social while Collies are very smart and one of the most trainable dogs. Collies are a bit bigger but both shed a lot.
Yes. Since the Samoyed was originally bred to live in the cold climate of Siberia, Russia, it has a thick coat that protects it from the cold. Its fur is double-coated, with the soft undercoat insulating the dog against the cold and the topcoat resistant against harsh weather conditions.

== == == == A Samoyed looks like a huge big white fluff ball... It can be pure white or mixed with cream or biscuit. Or it can be pure cream or (just mix those colors...) Samoyeds do not have blue eyes!
Yes! Samoyeds are constantly shedding huge tufts of fur. (I used to have one) However, they are VERY loyal dogs.
yes but they get too hot in those warmer climates so always make sure that your samoyed gets as much air conditioning that they need and their ok in apartments as long as they get a lot of exercise and they get groomed because they have a lot of hair and they could make a blanket out of all that groomed off hair!
if you can provide that then you will make a great samoyed owner.
The Samoyed did not originate from Greenland (it is a Russian breed). However, it can certainly adapt to Greenland's cold, harsh climate easily as this breed has a dense undercoat to keep warm and a topcoat that is weather-resistant.

No, it is it's own special breed. It's smaller than the husky, and certainly...doesn't look like one.
It is however a spitz type of dog and therefore does share charcteristics and looks (curly tail etc). These are the closest to a wolf and include Samoyeds Huskies Chows Malamutes Akitas Elkhounds Keeshond Shiba Inu etc.
The average weight of a Samoyed is between 35-65 pounds.
It is an American Eskimo. See http://blogs.dogtime.com/celebrity-canines/2009/08/celebrity-dog-photo-of-the-day-sandra-bullock-with-a-canine-costar-in-the-proposal

A Samoyed is a breed of dog, that was origanally bred in Russia for reindeer herding and sled pulling. I own one myself, and they are excellent dogs to own and have around the house. Very sweet and friendly. :)
