What do scientologists think about depression?
Answering a question about "what scientologists think" is always hard, since every scientologist can have a different opinion. No one can make a statement about what a group of people think.
I'm going to answer the question "what Scientology teaches about depression" which I think is a more appropriate way of putting it.
First of all, Scientology is a religion. It does not try to treat any physiological condition and does not give any medical advice.
Its focus is to free the human spirit and increase life in human beings.
Depression can be caused by a multitude of reasons.
When the depression is spiritual in nature (as it is in most if not all cases), a person may obtain great benefits from studying and using Scientology in his own life.
A person who is experiencing depression is to a great degree out of communication with his environment. It is not able to face many aspect of that environment. The individual is not be able to confront other people, tasks or even his own body. When a person does not confront an object or a situation, that object or situation only then can overwhelm him.
The tools of Scientology can help re-establish that communication and high level of confront that a person needs to stand on his own feet.
These tools were designed for the able guy who wants to be more able, and effectively accomplish that. They can be used by anyone. They are in no way intended as a cure for depression. That doesn't mean that a person who is experiencing mild depression cannot obtain benefits from using them.
The best way is to find out by personally experiencing these tools.
On the Scientology website one can find a free online course called "The Cause of Suppression". I think this is an extremely powerful tool to have.
What are the disadvantages of scientology?
Alternate Question: What are the disadvantages of the religion Scientology?
In the early years of Scientology it seemed like things were moving too fast. Something new would come out nearly every month and people felt that was like a new car, or a new trend in cloths. Out with the old and in with the new.
The truth is: Scientology is based on some very basic principles of life. When one learns those well, or takes such a viewpoint, they can see that nothing much really changed at all. All the basic principles are the same. All the previous 'new things' still work and have always worked miracles when used with skill. It is also true that there are new things to learn about and be excited about.
One person's 'disadvantage' is another person's zest for life.
One hears so many 'negative things' about Scientology. Many people feel that 'Where there is smoke there is fire.' When I first got excited about Scientology I had read a book and realized, I could make some of these ideas work and I just went ahead and did it. But then I heard 'negative things'. So I went to a library and really looked into them. I found everything there about Scientology. I found 12 stories about Scientology. All of them bad. I had to laugh to myself. How could anything be so bad and have such obviously false things written about it in these stories. If it were really that bad, it would make sense that it really is bad. But each of these stories, or nearly all of them contained something that was nonsense. One story rejected the science. It was from a fantasy fan magazine. Why wouldn't there be an article from a scientist about such things instead of from a 'comic book' editor? Science? Which had the better science? It was like they were trying too hard. It was just too apparent. It made me laugh even that first day of researching what this negativity was all about. It said something I knew was good was bad. Or pointed out something that was obviously bad was acceptable. It got me very interested, from a certain point of view. How do you sort what is true from what is false? How do you sort what is important from what is un-important? How do find what works and what does not? I decided the articles seemed like they were insincere. Too much passion and just too little thinking going on. I read one article by a Professor from the University of Chicago, Hiakawa I think. He had not read the book, did not know anyone that had experience with the material, and had talked to some folks over coffee one afternoon. He gave a treatise on the linguistic and semantic faults of all science fiction writers. How comparing the mind to a computing machine was so far afield. He admitted a couple of times he hadn't even read the book!
So I decided for some mysterious reason all 12 of the articles were full of crap. I continued with working out what worked for me and what I probably did not have a good enough grasp of to appreciate yet. I talked my wife into reading the book out loud to each other just before bedtime. That worked, she got excited about it too. She had some viewpoints on what she had seen in life and it all added up to we could make more and more things work. Positive things.
If one takes the viewpoint that what he has certainty on and can make a success with in life, and possible a miracle here and there, is more important than little men bickering about trivia and coffee shop banter. If you want to know why there are so many negatives in print, then make a study of that, if you wish. You might reach the same conclusion me.
Whats the difference between follower and believer in Scientology?
followers like science teachers shares their knowledge of science to many people but they can be in any religion they want but believers like scientists believes in their theory and does not believe in Theology of God so almost all of their religions is counterpart of the roman catholic religion ANSWER #2 I respect the answer supplied above by Reflexology. Please correct me if I am wrong but I do think he/she has confused Science with the controversial religious organization, Scientology. In my experience, "followers" and "believers" in any religious belief system are one and the same. However, I also know that one may "follow" a particular system of belief because one was brought up with it but may not necessarily "believe" in it in part or in it's entirety. From personal experience, I can say I followed a particular religion for most of my life and very early began to have doubts about their teachings. At that point I realized I was an habitual "follower" but not a "believer" so I left that particular religion and now have deep spiritual convictions of my own.
Is Scientology or Dianetics Science?
No. They aren't science. They were created by a science fiction writer, though.
According to scientology what is the cause of evil?
Disobey the Lord God Commanded. Genesis 2:16,17. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17.
