What is the difference between a 'browser' and search engine?
A browser is a piece of software that runs on your PC. Examples are Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera and Firefox. The browser allows you, via a connection to the internet via your Internet service provider, to access web pages stored on computers (servers) that are connected to the internet.
A search engine is a piece of application software that sits on a powerful computer (a server) on the Internet. This computer stores information about where web pages are stored on the internet.

WHAT IS A BROWER?
A web browser is considered a software application that allows people to access, retrieve and view information on the internet. The information that may be "browsed" can be in the form of text content on a web page, an image, video, audio etc. The most popular web browsers currently in use are Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari.
HOW DOES A BROWSER WORK?
The process begins with the user inputting a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) like http, https, ftp, file etc. (example: http://www.computer-geek.net/).. The browser then displays the resource by passing the HTML (main markup language for web pages) to the browser's layout engine to be translated from markup to an interactive document that you can view on your screen.
WHAT IS A SEARCH ENGINE?
The main purpose of a search engine is to search for information on the Internet. They are software programs that search for websites based on keywords that the user types in. The search engine then goes through their databases of information in order to locate the information you are looking for. The main search engines currently be used are Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
HOW DOES A SEARCH ENGINE WORK?
Search engines send out "web crawlers" or "spiders" (automated computer programs that browse the internet in a methodical and automated manner) to create a copy of all the web pages they have been to so the search engine can then index the pages to create web site listings that facilitate faster searches. A user types a query into the search engine and the search engine then sorts through millions of pages in its database to find a match to that specific query. The search engine then produces the results to your query in a ranked order according to relevancy.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
You basically use a Browser to access information on the Internet while you use a Search Engine to point you in the right direction of a website that relates to the words you type in. You actually have to use a Browser to get to a search engine, for example; typing in www.google.com which will then take you to the google web page. A very clever person used this analogy - If you are sitting in your car, the browser would be your windshield and the steering wheel would be the search engine.

1) Governments, agencies, companies, and political parties can have content removed from google by filing a complaint. Fortunately google doesn't remove everything requested, but the majority of the time they have to.
2) spammers are getting clever, making pages that can appear to have the exact phrase you searched for- so their websites, which are completely unrelated to what you wanted, get top hits.

Answer: Local Search Engine is a search engine optimization technique that ensures that your website will be found by customers in a very specific geographic area. For example, if you live and operate a pizza company headquartered in San Diego, but have stores throughout California - then setting up the proper Local SEO efforts (such as geographic proximity keywords and relevant business information) will make certain that those local customers know how to find your store.
Local SEO services vary depending on the needs of any given business with respect to their own brand strategy and overall marketing goals. For example, let's say you are looking for additional media opportunities for coverage of your product or service nationally as opposed to just locally? How do your get a site indexed by search engines?
You don't have to register a website with a search engine. We register a website or domain name with a domain provider who in tern list us in whois database. Most of the organic search engines update themselves form these domain registration authorities. Still then if you want to get your site listed in some particular search engine the you may try their own site submission features. Google has its own and yahoo has its own. same goes for other SEs too.
The best way of getting listed is of course link building and directory submission. Search engine algorithms always look for links on the pages they visit and index and add them to their 'visit list'. Social media promotion and bookmarking sites also help you get indexed first.

To search an individual website, you can either use that website's individual search function (if any) or use Google's Advanced Search. You can also just type a search in the format of topic site:address in the search bar of Google, where topic is what you want to find and address is the website you want to search - don't forget the space between the search topic and the word site. Example: to find pictures on my space type pictures site:myspace.com in the search box.
