A bobbin winder is the part of a sewing machine that takes the thread from a spool of thread and winds it on the bobbin. The sewing machine bobbin is a mini-spool of thread, made of plastic or metal, that holds the thread that will be on the underneath portion of your fabric when you sew.

The top thread comes from the spool of thread and the thread on the bottom side of your fabric comes from the bobbin. Instead of winding the thread on the bobbin by hand, long and tedious, the machine will wind it for you if you load it up correctly. Check your owner's manual for instructions. If you don't have a manual, do a google search for it by entering the name of your machine branch and the model # and it will probably find one. Also, any experienced sewer can show you how.

It is used to mark were you should cut from the pattern.

First, you need a hook hair needle and hair thread. You must wash and dry your hair. Then have then section you want extentions in braided in cornrows. Then, you take the extentions and measure them according to whatever section you want the hair sewn into. Cut the extention to fit the measurement. You then place the extenions on the cornrow and sew around the cornrow and the extention.

My Kenmore Convertible sewing machine was purchased new in 1979. I'm not sure when they were first on the market.

Skinny jeans are the most popular trend at the moment. I personally LOVE them, but they may not fit EVERYONE'S needs. For example, I'm a little skinny and to be honest, I had to wash and sew a few of my pairs of jeans. They also are sometimes hard to move in if they're too tight. Wear what feels most comfortable and what YOU feel looks good. You CAN keep up with trends, but add your own personal style. For example, you could bedazzle them- I don't know. If you like skinny jeans and feel they look good on you, then sure they're the best. But remember, trends CHANGE. So if you're only concerned about keeping up with trends, bear in mind that they might not be in style a year later. If you're not concerned with trends, don't worry about it and wear what YOU want to wear! -Rachel

Yes, you can embroider with a sewing needle but you won't be able to get many strands of embroidery floss through the eye of the needle. That's why embroidery needles come in handy because their eyes are bigger/longer.

Fold a piece of fabric in half. On the fold, make a mark about 4 inches down, or however far you want your dart to be. Begin sewing from the top, about 1 inch away from the fold, and sew straight toward your mark (you will be sewing diagonally). Don't back-stitch at the tip of the dart, or the fabric may not lay properly. Usually, if you are following a pattern, this process is explained in the instructions.

Not sure if there were any additional uses, but I do know of one such use for a black washed straight pin. I found a box of them in an antique store marked mourning pins. The cost of them prevented me from buying them. In the 19th century when one was in the deepest stage of mourning the person was expected to dress in black. Silver pins would reflect the light. Black washed pins were used to attach veils and mourning ribbons without reflection. In other ways if one was wearing a deep colored bonnet or dress and needed a pin, black was able to blend in better than brass or steel. Hope this helped.

Kenmore Model 117.141 with a motor that runs and a good cabinet is worth $30.00 to me. A machine that old is bound to had some issues.
