In the book All-American Slurp, the Lin family moves from China to America. As they get used to our cultures and our surroundings they become less shy and more calm and settle. The Lin family learns English and speaks it fluently, but there is always room for improvement.

The external conflict in "The Sniper" is between the protagonist and the enemy sniper on the opposite rooftop. They engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, trying to outsmart and kill each other.

Well, this could go several different directions. He could run into someone he knows. Maybe he could run into someone he's heard about, a famous sailor that the very same thing happened too. He could have an internal conflict in which he goes mad being deprived from his friends, and family. He could be attacked and called a savage by the indigenous inhabitants of his new setting. He could become attached to the environment and then his fellows sailors could somehow discover that he is alive and return for him; by this time, he will want to stay but he'll be torn between leaving and staying. A storm could happen to hit just when he gets used to the idea of his new home. A war could break out between a neighboring nation and the character could be caught in the middle of it. I'm a writer myself, I'm not sure where you want to go with it. But there are several different directions any story can go. Just keep thinking :)

As the story went, in the 1800's I think, a man in Ireland (maybe it was England) had sold his soul to the devil. His time had come due and the man waited in a church one night for the devil to come and take him away. Across town, men were sitting and drinking in a pub when a mysterious man walked in. He wore a cloak that covered his whole body and a large hat shaded his face. He sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. The barteneder served him and he quickly finished the drink. When he placed the empty glass on the wooden countertop, smoke began to appear and the glass burned a circular mark in the wood. This gathered the others' attention. He then proceeded to lay a coin down and leave the bar. As he walked out, some men caught a glimpse of his feet and claimed they were hooves. The quote on the show was, "Look, that man has cloven feet! It's the Devil I tell ya!" A few moments later, when the bartender went to clear his drink and take the payment, The coin spontaneously combusted, tunring into a leaf (I can't remember the type of plant it was from). The story then went on to say the "Devil" rode his horse to the church where the condemned man waited, tied his horse up in the stables, then went inside. He later emerged with the man, got atop his horse then rode off without untying his horse and in turn dragging the stable down with immense force.

Mr Catanzarra (the change maker) is a symbol the man who makes changes in the life of Goerge. Catanzzara works in a change booth: this is the literal meaning. but teh symboloc meaning is that he changes lives....

I had read this story in class, and we had very few choice options of fantasy, horror, mystery, and romance. Romance is suddenly off the board. Fantasy isn't a good choice because its not really magical or such. It comes down to Horror and Mystery and even though its not scary, it has crucial scenes and was originally supposed to be a SCARY STORY.

In the story "Zebra" by Chaim Potok, the main characters are John Wilson, a high school teacher, and Melvin Naphtali, a troubled student who develops a bond with Mr. Wilson. The story explores themes of racism, identity, and friendship through the interactions between these two characters.

The irony in the last sentence of "The Sniper" is that the protagonist discovers he has killed his own brother, whom he was hunting. This twist highlights the senselessness and tragedy of war, as well as the impact it can have on individuals and families.

If I were in the same situation as Carolee in "A Television Drama" by Jane Rule, I would feel conflicted and overwhelmed by the pressure to conform to societal expectations while also desiring personal fulfillment. I may struggle with feelings of guilt and dissatisfaction with my life choices, ultimately needing to find a balance between my own happiness and the expectations placed upon me.
