The W-101 can be worth anywhere from $100 to $300 all depending on the condition of the firearm and how well it has been kept.

I believe it was a Marlin model 49. I had one of these myself in the 60's.

If you are trying to find replacement parts, then you can use the Marlin parts as is. That is what I did, parts for Marlin are easier to find and sometimes cheaper.

The Sears 583.10 is a High Standard and the only High Standard bolt action shotgun known is the Model 514. The 514 is worth $125 in excellent condition.

Dates of production aren't listed but it's less than 50 years old.

Well, Remington made several models of SXS shotguns from 1873 until 1900 that had double triggers. The earlier models (1873 to 1889) had outside (exposed) hammers. Those made from 1894 until 1900 had the hammers inside the receiver. Your serial number puts this shotgun in the production year of 1902, so it would be a Model 1900. Depending on which "GRADE" you have and the condition it is in, it could be worth anywhere between $200.00 and $1,100.00. These shotguns were made with Damascus twist steel, which means that you should NOT fire modern shotshells in this shotgun as they were designed for blackpowder shells only. Your best bet would be to have it appraised by someone you trust.

The patent for Newport Model CN double barrell shotgun is 1915, but Newport was a named given to guns made by J Stevens, Ivers Johnson, and Crescent Arms. So most likely it was made in the early to mid 1900's.

Typically they are stamped on the receiver of the auto and pump action shotguns either on the bottom or the side. Low and moderate priced bolt action shotguns produced in the 1940's and 50's may not have had serial numbers. Later bolt action guns had the serial number stamped on the receiver, usually the side.

Serial numbers were not mandated until 1968. You may not have one.

I think about $650 if it is the lower field grade. That is about what it cost new. I bought one in about 1989 and still have it.
