Need serial number to give the correct year. Auto 5 shotguns were never made in Utah. Browning stamped guns with the city that was their Headquarters as a rule. Morgan Utah was HQ for The Browning Arms Company for many years. They started to Stamp A5 Barrels with that address in 1969. The guns were made in both Belgium and Japan during these years. Belgian guns with Morgan Utah were made from 1969-1976 Japanese guns with Morgan Utah 1976-1998

I noticed your question while searching for info on a Parker that I must sell for an estate. Apparently the value runs from as little as $200.00 for a poor/fair gun up to the $900.00 range for a really mint one. These guns are black powder and even though the preloaded shells fit in the chambers it is very dangerous to fire one. If it is proper working condition (don't make that call yourself) then the gun can get the top end of that price range. The gauge is the barrel gauge and an expert can measure it for you. The gun you have I believe was only made in 10 gauge but I may be wrong about that. I bought a Revelation R325BB in very good shape a few weeks ago for $65. It appears to have been rarely used.

Mosberg. Actually the single shot break actions are cheaper than the Mossbergs. Rossi. NEF, etc. Usually $100.00 new on sale.

That model name does not show up in the books. Your best bet is to take the gun to a gunsmith for professional appraisal since the model and condition of the gun will significantly affect the value.

Crescent Fire Arms Company was the manufacturer of the Nitro Hunter shotgun. It was as an exclusive in-house brand of Belknap Hardware in Louisville.

More likely that the marking is "Black Powder Only". These are reproductions of muzzleloading firearms, and should NEVER be fired with modern smokeless powder, only Black Powder or a BP substitute, such as Pyrodex. Depending on condition, most have a value of $50-$150. Richland Arms was the importer.

Your Dickson Howa Golden Bear is a copy of the Sako Finnbear. Dickson was a US importer who brought the Howa rifle in from Japan. The Howa is a good rifle. The Golden Bear is the same as a Smith and Wesson Model 1500 and Mossberg Model 1500. Weatherby Vanguard is very similar also. There was a recall on some Howa/Smith and Wesson rifles. The flaw was that closing the bolt could cause the gun to accidentally fire without touching the trigger. Get your serial number checked to see if the recall applies to your firearm. If it does, get it fixed. In 1970, Your rifle retailed for $130.00 US. Today, in mint conditon, your rifle would be valued at $650.00. Any nicks or worn bluing would naturally decrease the gun's value.

There are several quality levels for the gun and the values within those levels vary considerably with the condition. For example, a Quality X in Excellent condition has a book value of $1200 while the same gun in poor condition lists for $100. You had best take the gun to a reliable gunsmith or advanced collector for an appraisal.

There is some information at bluebookonline, but the best way is to search all the online firearms auctions and find out what similar guns are selling for (not the starting price or buy-it-now price).

The problem with browsing free online auctions is that you don't get any historical information or data on numbers produced, which is critical to determining rarity. You also don't get information on what you should be paying based on condition. The Gun Digest instant gun values solve that. Simmons Hardware Company used the "SH Co" logo .

Crescent Fire Arms used various names for "house brand" shotguns and this may be one of them. They used other companies to make shotguns for them. Hartford Arms actually made the guns for both Simmons and Shapleigh Hardware. (Shapleigh bought out Simmons Hardware in 1940)

So S.H. Co would be a house brand name made by Hartford under a Crescent contract. Hartford Arms & Equipment made guns from 1925 to 1932 and was bought out by High Standard Co in 1932. Crescent was bought out by J. Stevens Arms around 1930, and they continued to make "house brand" guns for several years.

Stevens Aems Co. Model 39 we are trying yo find the date on one right now.

You can find information for the 16 gauge Worthington Challenger single barrel shotgun at most gun stores and pawn shops. Many of these stores offer free appraisals and have knowledgeable clerks.

A Charles Daly Luxe 20ga is worth about $325-350 in good to excellent condition. I have one that I was thinking about selling so I spent $50.00 to get it appraised. The smith told me that the most I could get for this gun outright is what I mentioned above. Hope this helps. I guess these guns don't hold their values.
