Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Auto 5's with recoil pads (other than Mag 12's) poly-chokes and compensators will reduce value. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal.

If made before midnight, December 31, 1968, it will not have a serial number. If made later, it will be clearly marked on the receiver.

I have one from a gun show a month ago, paid $40.00 but it was missing the paw that rotates the cylinder. Built a part easily and it works well now. I have seen them asking $125.00 but a good looking functional one should be had for about a $100.00 or less. One interesting thing about these little guys is that the cylinder rotates freely when it is not cocked. Larry

It's really a Stevens model 94. Hercules was a Montgomery Ward brand name. Hercules was made by Iver Johnson from 1918-1943. I have a Montgomery Ward Hercules 16 ga. double. Does anyone know who made it. There are no brand or model numbers.SN X76777

The Stevens 311 was marked as model 5000 from about 1920 to 1931, then 5100 until 1941. Most references just list the 311 as if it had the same model number for the entire production period.

The JC Higgins model numbers for that particular type of bolt action shotgun go back to 583.1. They were made by High Standard and are similar to the High Standard Model 10 bolt-action shotgun. The 583.13 is mid-1950's. 583-1 to 583-12 were made by Harrington & Richardson arms Co for High Standard then partially owned By Sears 583 dose not mean High standard It means HOUSE BRAND ONLY. Sears Had made a special arraingment with H&R to purchase this model As H&R did not what to exclusivly make any gun for Sears The made the improved verson of their model 120/121 for Sears/High Standard this evolved into the Sears model 10 after 1948 When HIgh standard took over production .H&R also sold a greatly improved version on their own the were known as the 348/349 gamester and 351 Huntsman. H&R also subcontracted on the Sears model 10 and produced the 583.17A and supplied various parts to high standard for the entire series The JC Higgins 583 1 to 583 25 was actually exclisive Sears product owned entirely by Sears based on pre war H&R design

Only 12000 made between 1940 & 1941 then about 8000 recalled in 1950s. Not many working examples left

Fairly common. Perfect unrestored condition of great (90%+) you're looking at about $50-$150 from a collector and if you sell it to someone to shoot you're looking at about $100-$200.

Oxford Arms was a hardware store trade name on guns made by several companies, but the 1915 patent date indicates it is a Stevens 5000 or 5100 or 311, made from 1920 to 1989. If one of these numbers is marked on the receiver, it can narrow the manufacture date down a little. Value will be $150 to $250.

I just bought a 16 ga at the pawn shop and gave 72 dollars for it
they took 10 % off as it had been there a while. its old and rustic
but is tight and still shoots, it has a 30" barrel and is full choke
good for rabbit and squirrel but a misserable phesant gun.

Depends on the model, and condition. Model number should be under the receiver, or on the top tang, unless it is a model 1898, which had no markings to indicate model.

Hopkins & Allen made inexpensive handguns and good quality, utility shotguns from the late 1800's through the early 20th century. There is no definitive way to date your shotgun, but you can realistically range from 1880-1920. There is no collector value attributed to the H&A guns, and resale prices on the single-barrel shotguns invariably top out under $100. PLEASE have the gun checked thoroughly by a reputable gunsmith prior to shooting.

The serial number will be located on the bottom side of the gun where the wood stock meets the metal of the gun. It will be stamped into the metal. Not sure about value. Value is dependent upon condition. We've seen low-condition Double Autos selling in the low $200's, up to over $800 for excellent guns. This gun was also offered with different color anodizing on the receiver, and some of those variants are rare and worth a premium. We are buyers on nice FN Brownings. sales@countrygunsmith.net

I have no idea what kind of shotgun you have. Please give at least a manufacturer's name. Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) is not a firearms maker.

According to the Blue Book of Gun Values, it is a Winchester 1400. The givaway is the safety in front of the triggerguard.
