This model was manufactured from 1937 to 1981. If it has no serial number, it was made before 1968. Value would be $125 or less, depending on it's condition. What history do you want? All you can possibly get is what you and any previous owners can tell you. It was probably bought to keep the fox out of the hen house and did an admirable job. Ranger was a trade name sold by Montgomery Wards. The Model 5000 was made by J. Stevens Arms from 1931-1941.

Unfired in the box with all papers have been selling in the $2100 to $3000 range. If you have no box, look at $1800 - $2000. It would be better to get a Browning case to advertise in if you plan to sell.

Your gun was built in 1923.

The sears model 200 is a Winchester 1200. That will make it easier to find info. I have one of these, with adjustable choke and vent rib. It is a sweet shooting and smooth little shotgun.

As your serial number indicates, your gun was made in 1971, hence the 71 in the first two digits of the number. The value of these guns in very good to excellent condition runs about $250-$350.

on the underside of the fore grip is a circled letter...a thru n = 1949 thru 1962. a 1949 b1950 c1951...and so on. p=1964. r thru v = 1964 thru 1968

Seems to be a misprint in the Blue Book. Model 335 is listed twice, once as 67500 produced 1912-1932 and again as 2000 made 1926-35. If you find the Savage Arms website, I believe you can get an address for the Stevens historian who should be able to give you an exact year of production for a $15 fee.

Hercules was made by Iver Johnson from 1918-1943, Hercules name dropped in late 30's!

The model 54 series was made from 1933 to 1942 according to the information in the Blue Book, but it does not indicate what type of firearm it was. The Standard Catalog says the No. 54 was a lever action single shot target rifle manufactured from 1897 to 1916. No matter which is right, a single shot bolt action .410 would probably bring less than $100.

My experience for similar guns (like Stevens 311, Stevens 5100, etc) is that your gun is likely worth 250-300 in good condition with little room for movement either way given bad (but working) condition or excellent condition.

Look on e-Bay for repro ads for sale under this mfgr name and these brochures will locate the year of mfg in relation to the other products. An items value is what the market will bear. Put it on gunbroker.com with a high reserve if you want to see what the public will pay. Iver Johnson marketed two different .25ACP pistols. The TP-25 was a double action modeled after the Walther - it will bring $150-$200 in excellent condition. Iver Johnson/AMAC marketed a single-action .25 auto similar to the Baby Browning that brings $100-$140 in top condition. The TP-25 was 70's-80's, the single-action was late 1980's-1993. The first course of action to discern the value of a gun is to identify the make, model, manufacturing date, and variation. The book "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993" by W. Goforth may help accomplish this. Then it's a simple matter of looking your gun up in one of the many firearm value books, such as the Blue Book of Gun Values, or the Standard Catalog of Firearms.

Need to identify the exact model. Being chambered for a 32-40 cartridge, I suspect it may be one of the Schuetzen models 45 to 54 which are higher grade target rifles and not valued in the standard references except to say they bring much higher prices than the more ordinary Stevens Ideal single shots.

22 long rifle bolt action manufactured from 1937 to 1942. Some were manufactured as US military training rifles and if marked US Property they will sell for a large premium. The Blue Book gives values of $70 in 60% and $140 in 100%.

You won't find history of any particular Crescent double barrel model. They basically made one or two models and marked them with whatever name the retailer wanted. Well over 100 different trade names have been found on Crescents. The company was formed in Norwich, Ct, in 1892 and bought by H&D Folsom Sporting Goods the following year. Around 1926 Crescent was sold to Stevens (which was already owned by Savage) then merged with NR Davis (which they also purchased) to form Crescent-Davis Arms. The Crescent name disappeared completely about 1932.

this is a Lewis model made between 1905 1910.

The one I have is from the 1912 Sears & Roebuck catolog. I am trying to find its value. It is in Very good shape.

Crescent operated from 1893 to 1930. There doesn't seem to be any source to pinpoint dates of manufacture by serial numbers. Crescent was a subsidiary of H&D Folsom Sporting Goods, New York. Many of their products were sold through Folsom's retail outlets, but Folsom was also a large wholesale dealer and many Crescent guns were marked with the names or trademarks of other retail chains and even independent hardware stores. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co, Chicago (1882-1962), retailed the Victor shotguns which were manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, CT (1893-1930).
