What part of the world did Sikhs come from?
If you meant how did Sikhism originate this is the answer:
Sikhism is a religion founded in the fifteenth century on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and ten successive Sikh Gurus (the last one being the sacred text Guru Granth Sahib Ji). This system of religious philosophy and expression has been traditionally known as the Gurmat (literally the council of the gurus). Sikhism originated from the word Sikh, which in turn comes from the Sanskrit root śiṣya meaning "disciple", or śikṣa meaning "instruction".The principal belief of Sikhism is faith and justice, in Waheguru-represented by the phrase ik ōaṅkār, meaning one God. Sikhism shows the pursuit of salvation through disciplined, personal meditation on the name and message of God. The followers of Sikhism are ordained to follow the teachings of the ten Sikh gurus, or enlightened leaders, as well as the holy scripture entitled the Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji, which, along with the writings of six of the ten Sikh Gurus, includes selected works of many devotees from diverse socio-economic and religious backgrounds. The text was decreed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth guru, as the final guru of the Sikh religion. Sikhism's traditions and teachings are associated with the history, society and culture of Punjab. Adherents of Sikhism are known as Sikhs which means student.
The Sikhs accept cremation as their way of disposing the dead bodies. That stems from the notion that a soul separates from the body when someone dies.
A typical Punjabi breakfast consists of layered paranthas (flaky, griddle breads, stuffed with spiced, mashed potatoes or grated, spiced radish eaten with dahi(creamy yoghurt) and tarty mango pickle for pep and pungency. This is washed down with a glass of thick, creamy milk.
An exquisite country fare if Sarson-Ka-Sag (buttery mustard greens, flavoured with aniseed and asafoetida) eaten with Makki-Ki-Roti (crisp, fresh corn bread) and washed down withenormous glasses of Lassi (thick, creamy butter milk). Another typical Punjabi meal is the universal favourite chhole (spicely stewed chick peas, in green chillies and onions), Bhaturas (fully, leavended deep fried breads), and Dahi Baras (lentil dumplings in creamy yoghurt). Tandoori food-dishes cooked in hot, clay ovens-include the delectable fish and tandoori chicken (barbecued, red and succulent, with a nicely spiced paste of tomato puree, gram masala, butter, ginger and coriander),
Uncommonly good are the meat tikkas (patties of finely pounded meat, with a pleasant mixture of mint, green chillies and green coriander). Hearty eaters, other favourites of Punjabis are : the piquant baigan-ka-bharta (egg plant smoked on fire and then cooked with hot spices and tomatoes); the delicious Karhi (Yoghurt whipped with chick pea flour and chick pea dumplings); the protein rich maah-ki-dal (pulses cooked with onions, tomatoes and red-eyed beans). What Sikhism Holy Book is put to bed?
The Sikh Holy book is considered as the Immortal Guru / Teacher after the 10th and the last Guru, i.e. Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and He said, after me this will be your Guru. Consider this is Me, not mere a book.
So, sikh society, as directed, considered the Holy book as Guru and abide by the thought that a Guru / Spiritual Leader woke up early morning and same time give respect while HE sleep, where no noise, only cleanliness and peace.
It all depends on what religion you are. I'm a Christian so I go to a church. Many believe that you can worship God at any meeting place. After all the people are the church, without the people it is just an empty building and a building is all you need.

What offerings do Sikhs give to the guru granth sahib?
Sikhs give offerings to the Guru Granth Sahib as it is to show their appreciation for it. They believe that it is almost like the 11th Guru of Sikhism, it has all 10 of the Guru's teachings held within it. Sikhs appreciate this as it helps them guide a religious, good life and they give offerings as if to say 'thank you' to it.
I would like to add, that the offerings also have a practical purpose. The Sikh Gurus said that "the Guru's offering box is the mouth of the poor.' Some of the offerings are food items which are served in the langar or free kitchen of the Sikh temple. Offerings of money are also used for various programs. For instance, some Sikhtemples run programs to help keep kids off the streets by offering activities like sports, free tutoring sessions, etc. by paying people to run these programs. In Sikhtemples run by people I do not approve of, I offer no more than a penny and lots of Sikhs do likewise. It is not as if the Guru is hungry for our offerings, but if bad management can be driven out due to a lack of funds, good riddance.
