Is nicotine added to tobacco products?
At present, yes. The FDA intends to put a stop to it soon.
Nicotine is a natural component of tobacco, but tobacco companies routinely "fortify" tobacco, especially in cigarettes, the better to addict their customers.
Why does it seem that cigarette smoke smells stronger in cold weather?
The burning of cigarettes is essentially a chemical reaction between the cigarette and oxygen. Temperature is one of the factors that affect the rate of chemical reactions, so cold weather should slow the rate of burning of cigarettes.
This is because the lower the temperature, the less motion of molecules, and thus the collisions between reacting molecules are less frequent, resulting in a slower reaction.
At least in Canada there are no truthful stats. I got in touch with the B.C. Lung Assoc., posing as a non smoker and what I heard was astounding. Their stats are rated on 'guesstimates!' Some people are successful, but smoking is difficult for most people (they say as hard as trying to come off heroine) and there is no magic pill that will help, but just when the time is right for the person to quit. Many smokers do go back to smoking (may quit again until they quit entirely) and it can be caused by stress or just wanting the nicotine back in their body. When I phoned Mother's Against Drunk Drivers they had the exact stats of extreme injuries to death re car accidents/drunk drivers and this is because they get their stats from the police. If the government or certain people want others to quit smoking they should try to understand the addiction first (get to know what you are talking about) and provide as much support as possible. By hounding someone it only makes matters worse. The government has made huge revenues off tobacco products and the price of cigarettes has gone up dramatically so something smells pretty fishy there. I fear that the Canadian and U.S. governments are leading into dictatorship telling people to quit smoking, they are obese, what to eat, (on the news recently the U.S. is clamping down hard on certain restaurants re trans fats) but my idea of this is, people are adults and can make their own choices and NO government has the right to dictate what they think and if we allow this the next thing governments will start telling us how to live, what to read, etc., if people don't get their head out from under their rocks. The next thing I'm expecting is an old German tactic of ALL citizens had to have their radios on to listen to constant Propaganda and couldn't shut off the radio although they could turn it down. Here our governments are blaming smokers for everything down to the boil on someones butt when the whole of their environment is under stress and if they would put 1/8th of the effort into the whole of the environment this would be a better world to live in. There is a way to quit smoking, trust me.
What is the best ways to quit smoking without using the patch or the gum?
There are various inhalers that are more like smoking, but they doesn't taste good (But then cigarette smoke does not actually taste good either, it is just that a smoker is used to the taste.) The disadvantage of this is that you are still carrying out the actions of smoking, so are not really "breaking the habit".
The best alternative is to just stop (Cold turkey.)
The worst symptoms will only last 1-3 days. After this what you really miss is the "actions" of smoking, rather than the drug.
On the plus side in a bout a week you will/may start to notice positive effects, warm feet, easier/quieter breathing, improved sense of smell to name but a few.
There are also a number of drug therapies available, but they tend to only be available on prescription.
Alternate Answer
There are more smoking cessation products available in the market besides patches and gum. If it is really tough for you to quit smoking then you can try for herbal cigarettes. Herbal cigarettes are the best possible solution to quit smoking. Whenever you feel to smoke that time you should try one cigarette, it contains very less nicotine in it which is not harmful. After using it for some days it will slowly reduce your number of cigarettes of a day and with in 1-2 months you can easily quit smoking.
Alternate Answer
You don't need anything to help you stop smoking. First of all, you "stop" smoking, you don't "quit". The word "quit" immediately implies that you are depriving yourself of something that you need. You are not. Instead of thinking "I need a cigarette", think "I'm so happy to be ridding my body of this poison that it doesn't need". That is the basic psychology behind it. Do not use any nicotine replacement products, you're just prolonging the misery for yourself.

Yes it will. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit so if you stop smoking for that long it will get easier. There are big withdrawel symptoms when you give up smoking but once you get past them it will be okay. You are taking a substance away from your body and now it feels like it needs it. You have to teach it that it doesn't and that life is better with out that smoke leaving you breathless and stinking up your clothes.

Why was tobacco an important crop for the southern colonists?
I don't know much about the colonies, but I do know tobacco changed Jamestown a whole lot. John Rolfe started growing tobacco, and got a bunch of different types. A few types sold really well and got the colonies a bunch of cash.
Why should you carry on smoking while you are pregnant?
The baby is getting second hand smoke and their lungs are being damaged in the process which can then lead to health problems for you and the baby.
Answer Carbon monoxide poisoning. The baby doesnt have anywhere to blow the second-hand smoke. Ever try to smoke with your head in a ziplock bag? Answer For the same reason it is bad for anyone to smoke. Smoke damages lungs (which are probably still forming in the fetus). It also pollutes the blood stream, which goes directly from mother to baby. The fetus also has little, no, or reduced abilities to filter any smoke due to not being fully developed. This can lead to deformities, low birth weight, and organ complications at birth and later on in life. This applies to both the mother smoking directly and from her inhaling second-hand smoke, too.
Cigarettes have over 4000 harmful chemicals and additives including Nicotine, Benzene, Formaldehyde, Ammonia, Acetone, Tar, Nicotine, Arsenic and Hydrogen Cyanide. When smoked also produce a harmful chemical called carbon monoxide.
There are at least 50 are known carcinogens (substances known to cause cancer) as well. These make the mother's blood less able to carry oxygen and food to the baby.

Does smoking make you a little tired?
The short answer is: yes.
The long answer is: it depends on your training schedule. I personally smoke half a pack of cigarettes every day, but I also train in the pool, gym, and on the track six days a week. Your body will become accustomed to dealing with smoke in the lungs, and you will still see marked improvement in your fitness scores if you are training regularly while smoking cigarettes.
Can you take Chantix while on Suboxone?
You sure can, but I would suggest you don't try to quit both tobacco use and an opiate addiction at the same time. Start with one or the other and slowly transition to taking both medications once you have made some progress and gained some confidence. Both addictions can be a nasty thing to overcome so please make sure you are approaching the situation realistically and practically.
Can quitting smoking affect your stomach?
It can affect your digestion in 2 ways - your digestion does improve in efficiency in most cases and you very often eat more to compensate for not having the cigarette in your hand.
Which organizations can offer help to those who are trying to quit smoking?
Many people drink and it causes many, many different reactions to your body and brain but in this question many people have to obtain a different habit to be able to forget about the habit of drinking. Getting rid of the habit of drinking is a really tough thing to go through and it will take time through time but on the mean while look up on google or any resource to find ways to stop drinking. My suggestion is that if your a drinker and you are really upset about something, don't go to a bar and forget about your life. Go home and think about your situation and drink some tea or coffee that will help you relax. Ask your doctor or family members about you drinking habit and they will be by your side.

What are some tips to quit smoking?
Well I gave up smoking ater 10 years 3 months ago, I am proud to say.
If I could give you 3 tips they would be;
1)Take up a sport, something to get healthy to deter you from wanting to pollute your lungs
2) Whenever you have a craving, go brush your teeth; this gives you the hand to mouth habitual stimulation, plus your breath smells nice which is the opposite of a smoker
3) Set a date and do it! Don't go back, make a promise to yourself and think of your family and friends who dont smoke. You will be adding years and quality to your life. Good luck.
Will the e cig help quit smoking?
We suppose that, since there is no smoke involved, they do in a sense. However, as far as breaking the habit goes, they are little or no help. They support the nicotine habit, along with all the physical habits that go along with smoking. They also allow you to ingest nicotine in situations and places where smoking is not allowed.
That said, they are better for you than smoking, since the coal tar and carbon monoxide that are present in smoke are absent from the e-cigarettes.
What are some companies that can help you quit smoking?
Nicotine replacement therapy is considered to be one of the most important parts of an effective smoking cessation regime. There is no one most effective aid for everyone, though. Most people need both physical support (nicotine gum or patch) and mental support, help and encouragement from friends and family.
What to do after quitting smoking?
That question is not easily answered. Alot of the variation is relevant to how long someone has been smoking for. Your brain is wired with nicotine receptors that react to the levels of nicotine in your body. The receptors seem to be more easily "aggravated" if the person has been smoking longer. Usually, though, the cravings begin to subside after a week or two. But, once you've woken up the receptors they are going to be very aggressive. Even being around people who smoke is likely going to trigger temptation and send you right back down the street to get another pack of smokes. I would suggest nicotine replacement therapy, but that is extremely counterproductive as you aren't helping your body "quit" but just simply providing another way to get nicotine. If you do start up smoking again, you may want to talk to your doctor about Chantix. It doesn't replace nicotine, but rather seems to reduce your cravings. But some people seem to be affected very badly by the side effects while others have none. Anyway, that would be something to talk to your doctor about, as I said. I hope this helps out somehow. Good Luck.
