This caused the battle to drag on until the morning of October 4 when a UN/U.S. convoy rescued the trapped soldiers at the first crash site. CW3 Mike Durant was the pilot of the second blackhawk shot down and he was held captive for 11 days. Ultimately 18 Americans were killled during the battle.
