How does the standard of living in South Korea differ from that in North Korea?
The governing styles in South Korea are drastically different than those in North Korea.
South Korea is considered a first class, safe and efficient country. Living in places such as The US, the only things that could be found odd are mostly mandatory military service for men under 30 years, and that abortion is illegal. Food is, for the most part, not a hardship in South Korea. Seoul is a huge, high class city and a lot of the country is farmland.
In both countries, the climate is mild, but on the cold side.
The North Korean government is strict, and although technically a republic, remains a dictatorship. A modern day feudalism can be noticed, with around %90 of the population living outside the capital, P'yongyang, and food situation is scarce.
For the other %10 percent, life is fairly good - P'yongyang has a great university, specializing in language, but the city is mostly made of government officials and their families.
Laws are strict and bad things that are said about the government are federally punishable. For most of the country, leaving is not allowed.

What do Koreans eat and drink?
A lot of things. East Asian cuisine, is very diverse and therefore you should not look toward stereotypes against Chinese people or American eateries like Panda Express who claim they serve you real Chinese food. I've had REAL orange chicken from an actual Chinese restaurant in Chicago, and believe me it tastes NOTHING like the sweet stuff they serve over at Panda Express or PF Chang's it's pretty nasty tasting I'll tell you that. In China, they eat a lot of seafoods and veggies. They can be fried or boiled. They also eat pork, chicken and beef and this comes in a very unique fashion. Usually marinaded in a sweet sauce and served with rice. Chinese sandwhiches are steamed and barely baked. The desserts from East Asia are baked though. In Taiwan, they eat birds nests which I hear is an extremely priced delicacy in Taiwan and is very expensive. A lot of Taiwanese cuisine is derived from the cuisines in mainland China. In South Korea and North Korea, it does bear a resemblance to Chinese and Japanese cuisine in terms of staple ingredients. But however, Korean cuisine is very spicy. Sushi is also a Korean food as it is Japanese. The spices distinguish it easily from Chinese cuisine. The cuisine of Mongolia, is known as the "nomads' food". Because Mongols, are a nomadic ethnic group mostly except for those living in Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar. Since Mongolia is landlocked, seafood is not part of Mongolian cuisine. Mongolia's cuisine is like the Wisconsin of East Asia, and consts of dairy products and a lot of meat. Lamb, mutton, yaks, marmot and beef are the common meats in Mongolia's cuisine. Let us not forget the lovely Japanese cuisine. Japanese cuisine, is also sweet marinaded meats. Of course, we know that Japanese people do eat fish and this is where sushi and sashimi came from. Sushi, is rolls of seaweed and raw fish or veggies. Sashimi is simply cut slices of raw fish or raw meat. Japanese people also eat raw horsemeat. Yes, in East Asia they do eat parts of the animal or even animals themselves that Americans would find "disgusting".
NO!
