The answer here must be yes. Without knowing why maggots would even be in a swimming pool, there should be sufficient disinfectant in the pool water to kill maggots or any other type of invaders. You wouldn't put your body in contact with maggots in any normal situation therefore swimming with maggots is putting your body in contact with the germs that are washed from them into the water. Do not swim in any polluted water is always the safest rule.

If you are adding salt to a salt water pool with a salt water chlorination system and the TDS level does not go up then the problem probably lies with the chlorination system not working (the electrolysis unit or power supply).

Adding salt directly to the pool will increase the TDS (Total Dissolved Salts) concentration of the water.

That all depends on the size of the surface of the pool the amount of people going in and out of the pool etc. To see if a pool is leaking take a bucket of water out of the pool, mark the water level of the pool and the water level in the bucket. Then leave the pool and bucket alone for a day or two. if the water level in the pool has gone down more then the water level in the bucket then there is a leak or water is being removed in some way. If the levels are the same then the water lost is a result evaporation.

For aesthetics it usually looks better to have a smooth bottom. In most cases it will not effect the liners fit of function. Upon new installation you may notice some inconsistency in the bottom as it's hard to install without disrupting the sand. It is best to steer customers away from algaecides that use copper, since copper tends to have bad effects in pool water, i.e. stains on the walls, and cloudiness after chlorine is added etc. Sodium Bromide based algaecides in conjunction with liquid chlorine is usually the cheapest and most efficient method for destroying algae. Just make sure that you don't have a mineral purification system (nature2, pool frog, etc) or the Sodium Bromide (or the copper for that matter) will instantly destroy it. My pool used to be totally dark green when I opened it. I now use 2 to 3 table spoons of copper sulfate when I open it in the spring and it goes from green to clean in about 2 days. It may be a little cloudy after this, but it's something you can work with, clarifiers etc. Also back flush often. I also use the same amount in the fall when I close it, but make sure you circulate the water for 2 days before you close it. Make sure you mix the copper sulfate with water in a plastic container, make sure the blue crystals are dissolved. I use a 2 gallon plastic container with a sprinkler head on it like you use to water flowers with, this makes it easy to sprinkle the copper sulfate mixed with water in the pool evenly. You can buy copper sulfate at your local hardware store or on ebay.

P.S. I only use use copper sulfate in the spring and the fall. I do not use it during the season as a chlorine substitute as some people say they do, as to much copper in your water can cause you problems.

always shampoo and condition hair after swimming, especially when swimming in chlorinated water. if you don't, chlorine can build up on the hair and make it feel horrible. if you swim often, get a good clarifying shampoo and use once a week to prevent build-up. before getting in the pool, wet your hair first with regular water. hair is like a sponge, it soaks up water. if it's already wet, it won't soak up as much chlorine. or, even better, use a leave-in conditioner beforehand. conditioner seals the cuticle of your hair, so very little chlorine can get into the hair shaft. the best thing to do after swimming is to shampoo and condition your hair. deep conditioners always help also.

This depends on the water. take a sample to a pool shop and they will work it out for you. Or get a test kit so that you can do it your self.

I have found the most effective way to get rid of the water sitting on top of a pool liner, is to purchase a submersible pump at your local hardware store, with enough hose to extend from the pump to where you want the water to drain (yard). AND ensure you have a top quality extension cord so you don't electrocute yourself or others if the connection goes under water. Just push the submersible pump to the deepest part of the water on top of the cover, plug it in, and it will drain a large part of it away before you even start removing the cover for the summer. Or you could filter the water after treating it with chemicals and pump it under the cover so you don't have to wait for rain or buy water to top off the pool. It does't have to be perfectly clear because you will treat all the water when you take the cover off.

For platforms there are no boards this is just the platform, compared to spring board which is a flexible board that you do a hurdle off of to get maximum height. on a platform you get as much height as you can jump

Install your batteries. There are fish that eat these little bugs. If you have a pond and need to have these pests gone these fish can do it for you. Killing these is easy if you can dump the standing water they live in. They need the water to live and grow.

If it is "salt" it would dissolve with water. More often it is alkali or calcium that has deposited at the water line. If you catch it when it is just a "film" it will usually come off with an acid product. I prefer to use Bio Dex 300 but there are others on the market. Be extremely careful when working with acid as you could get hurt. If the buildup has worsened you may want to use a pumice block to remove the hard crusty parts. I live in North Central Florida. The most common pest in my pool is the predacious diving beetle. These little bast- ... buggers will actively chase you down and take a bite. It hurts but I don't think they're venomous. I read they can get up to an inch long but I've never seen one longer than a 1/4 inch. I spend the first 5 or 10 minutes in the pool searching for these beetles then scooping them up in the net and crushing them on the side of the pool.

I also frequently have backswimmer beetles in the pool as well but these generaly leave me alone unless I try to catch them. I caught one by hand once and he bit me hard. They have a long tube of a mouth they use to suck blood from their prey and he pierced my finger. I don't catch them by hand anymore. I just scoop them out with the net and send them on their way.

It is rare but not unheard of to find an alligator in your pool so always give a quick check before jumping in.

How long will the shell of a gunite pool last?

There are lots of pools made with gunite or shotcrete that are 50+ years old. As there are many inground pools of all types built in the 1970's still full of family fun times. With first finishes, and equipment 30 years old. I often for example see old heaters still working that were built in the early 1970's. Sure there are much more efficent units today.
