How do you hold your arms while you tap?

Normally just clasped behind your back if not told to do otherwise. But some moves have certain arm movements to go with it. For example, the buffalo's arms move from both out and straight leaning towards the way you are traveling to both arms straight with both arms close to chest. I would ask a dance instructor about all of the arm positions because it would be almost impossible to list all of the arm movements.

Would a girl like it if a guy took tap dancing?

If you tap dance, you are usually in a class filled with girls. I dance with boys and they are not gay at all. they are funny and get to flirt with girls for a full hour(or however long the class is). It's fun for the girls too because it makes it exciting. The better the guy at tap dancing the better. If you are good you will get noticed and girls will watch you.

To me it would be nice. Especially as tap dancing is a kind of dancing which is not weird for both genders to dance it. Another reason I would like it is because I have never danced with a boy and it would be cool!

Can tap dancing hurt ballet dancing?

no it cant

---

Yes it can, the positions are very different and can harm technique.

-----

Not particularly. I am on a tap and jazz competitive team and it is mandatory that I take ballet and everyone on the team takes ballet. Ballet is where most dance technique come from. But, if you are doing a toe stand, or toe knocks or wings or anything along those lines in tap, and and you turn your feet in, yes, you will definitely ruin that ballet technique.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No! I do both and I am improving in both especially ballet not going bakwards. I find it silly to think that because although in the Royal Ballet School they say so how could I be improving and my dance teacher be praising me more if tap dancing ruins Ballet technique!
