Thomas Jefferson referred to the town meetings in New England societies as, "the best school of political liberty the world ever saw." Town meetings, where the adult males met together and each man voted, was a showcase and a classroom for democracy. New England villagers from the outset gathered regularly in their meetinghouses to elect their officials, appoint schoolmasters, and discuss such mundane matters as road repairs.

Thomas Jefferson disliked the Constitution because he thought that the constitution gave to much power to the Government. He did not like the fact that there wasn't any draft of a bill of rights in the Consitution and also, how the president didn't have a limited time of presidency (presidential terms).

Besides the fact that they were both elected by the people to be President of the United States they have little in common, I think. There were both married, both were Episcopalians, both were college educated and both were raised in families that were comfortable financially. They lived in very different times and faced very different political situations but they probably both agreed on a conservative interpretation of the US Constitution. ( It would much easier to point out their differences, but that is not the question.)

The preamble to the constitution is basically the same thing as a mission statement. It gave people a short, concise overview of what the constitution was trying to do without them having to read the whole thing word for word.

The Chesapeake Incident happened on December 7, 1863 when a group of confederates took the USS Chesapeake, a Northern ship doing a trade run from New York to Portland. The Southern hijackers wished to sell the Chesapeake's cargo, purchase armaments, and then transform the Chesapeake into a privateer in order to intercept and attack merchant ships from the North. Though they did reach British territorial waters off the coasts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, they were captured by two Northern warships on 16 December in St. Margaret's Bay in Nova Scotia. The ships searched a Nova Scotian fishing trolley for possible refugees. These actions employed by the North and South seriously violated British neutrality. The event badly affected the future of each of the colonies as it had a serious affect on the thoughts for confederation. This event, combined with the St. Alban's Raid, helped push Canada to confederation.

Thomas Jefferson had strong democratic views. This led him to set high taxes for wealthier people and put the money towards public school reform and the modernization of the legal system.

Alexander Hamilton was one of the founding fathers. He was good with financial affairs and Hamilton became the Secretary of the Treasury under US President George Washington. At that time. the Treasury was the largest US government department.

Thomas Jefferson's ideals were a non interventionist policy in that, he wanted to trade freely with other countries and leave them alone as long as they left us alone. However, the Britain and the France were attacking their merchant ships so he made a bit of a rash decision and he basically created a non contact policy meaning we couldn't trade with any foreign country.

John Adams claimed that Jefferson was the son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginian mulatto father. To date, no evidence has been given to support this claim. Baseless claims of African heritage were often used up into the 20th century to destroy political careers. Jefferson's father is rumored to have been of Welsh descent, although little documentation exists; his mother, on the other hand, is of well documented descent from British gentry.

First of all he was one of our founding fathers. Secondly he wrote the Declaration of Independence. Then he became our third president and during his presidency he doubled our land area by buying the Louisiana Purchase.
