Who wrote the famous novel about time travel the time machine?

Nobody has currently invented a working time machine. But the people are trying to invent a time machine

Actually the person who invented the time machine was doctor brown. Don't believe me? Watch back to the future, they'll show you their very realistic journey between times, and how they accidentally changed the course of time. We are very lucky they caught their mistake. If you wish to time travel, you must purchase a delorean
I did. I invented the first primitive time machine at around May 15th, 2035. I came back into the past to warn you all that time travel is unhealthy for humans.

Why is it impossible to travel to the past?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Time travel has some problems, but there are some physicists that think it might be possible.

Potential problems:

1) Father Paradox: If you went back in time and killed your father before you were conceived... what then?

2) Since you WERE in the past, would going back merely mean you would be where you WERE? Or would there be two of you in the past?

Some people propose there are an infinite number of "Time Lines" or alternate realities. Others say that the problems that exist with the idea show the idea is impossible.

Etc.

A.1] Perhaps if it IS possible then might there not be a "law" of some kind that prohibits the traveler from performing any direct act which would affect the current self.

A.2] I believe the question answers itself. But, if you were in the past then you would be visiting yourself (in the past) since it is your future self traveling back to see a past self consequently you would be unable to visit yourself before you were born, duh.

Similarly, should you be traveling into the future it would be a past self visiting a future self, but herein lies the possibility that the future self might not be a certainty due to the number of possible paths you might take. Example: If you visited yourself 1 hour in the future then the probability of that actually being your self might be 99.99%. Whereas visiting your future self 1 year in future might only represent a 75% probability of you actually being like that person due to the increasing number of decisions you might make, possibly exponentially. Which might mean that at some point, visiting yourself in the future would be useless as that future might never come about, or you may not even recognize yourself. But then again you should also realize that at some point in the future it would impossible for you to visit yourself in the past because you have already died. Again, duh.

It would be important to realize that at some point you are not actually visiting yourself, but a descendant representing your self, i.e. a son of a son of a son.

I'll stop here because thinking about the possibilities and probabilities, and the possible probabilities or the probable possibilities is giving me one heck of a headache. . . . whew!!

How can I time travel?

User Avatar

Asked by 76422

According to relativity theory, time stops for a particle when the speed of that particle reaches the speed of light in a vacuum. However, the theory of relativity also states that it is impossible for an object with nonzero mass to ever reach the speed of light in a vacuum.

In other words: you can't, except in a few trivial instances such as photons, which are massless and already travel at the speed of light in a vacuum (er... at least, they do when they're in a vacuum).

You may be asking about a video game, in which case it would help to know which one you're talking about. Video game physics are often quite different from real physics.

What is the study of time travel?

Time travel is not too complicated to understand. You see it actually has a lot to do with the after life. Once you die there will be no time in existence. So really all you have to do (which some people find impossible, and would take a lot of research) is get into that state. The state in which there is no time, there for you could time travel to whatever point in time. Albert Einstein had came close to doing so in 1943. In 1943 Einstein discovered facts, and had theories close enough to try an experiment most commonly known as, The Philadelphia Experiment. Einstein used a boat that was used in the Revolutionary War, he somehow (how is unknown) made the boat appear to leave and come strait back. The navy did the experiment and most lost their lives. Einstein did not participate in the experiment because of one of his theories: human molecules are not strong enough to stand teleportation of any kind.

This led to anonymous amounts of limbs of the naval soldiers stuck in the ship. Now your probably thinking, "well how did this happen ?" Einsteins theory was correct the molecules from humans, and the molecules from the ship collided during the process of teleportation.

Now all I have to say to this day, please to all the people in the world don't try anything like this you may end up with your hand stuck in something. This is very dangerous. The reason us as the people don't know any more than this because someone might try and do this again. If this did happen again it would most likely result the same way it did in 1943. This is a very dangerous thing than what it seems like in movies, books, and fictional articles. Do not try this at home, time travel and teleportation are two things that can put the people of the world in danger.

Will time travel ever become practically possible?

User Avatar

Asked by Dontcryoutloud

There is one awnser. I'm an 11 year old boy and i found an idea how to teleport! First you use an ionizer to make the electrons the same frequecy as the teleportation device. then use an E+MC2 zapper to make the person into energy.Mass is a an object. then the energy goes through outer space to a satellite and then the satelite send the energy person into anywhere they want!

Well, I believe changing a person and back again would have the effect of destroying the original. But its possible if the hmans electrons were made the same speed then person could teleport. So what comes out the other end would just be a duplicate that thinks he/she is the original.

And that's if we can figure out a way to do that. A star trek type teleportation device isn't possible, I don't think, because of the exactness needed in the copying of the matter. I mean, if you throw a few atoms off, you could transform a person into an atomic bomb mid-transport ^^.

So if it is indeed possible, you not only would need a reception area to reconstruct the matter, but you also need a departure device to copy/transmit the data. All of this would require a tremendous amount of energy. And the farther you move the matter in the transport, the more energy is lost. So if you happen to find solutions to all these other problems, you still have a definite limit for range.

So, short answer, probably not.

Do you guys think time travel is possible?

User Avatar

Asked by TheJukeBox

Mathematically it seems that if you had an infinitely long rotating cylinder (which is itself impossible) then there might be some curved timelike paths through the space near the cylinder.

Realistically speaking, time travel is not possible, except the normal way: into the future at one second per second.

Einstein theorized that it was possible to travel into the future by going near the speed of light, but said time travel to the past was impossible.

Will i ever find a time machine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Basically time machine is the mathematical concept till now it is only concept. When you travel more than the speed of light then the time goes to infinity. But when you say that you can travel with the speed of light at the same time you are kicking all the laws of physics and throwing them into dustbin because all the assumptions and theories given by the scientist will go wrong. What is the physics behind time travel?

User Avatar

Asked by Bazuyen

Time travels at the speed of light but this speed varies depending on where you are. If you were to be in space, time travels faster but if youre on earth, time travels slower because it has to pass through earth and its bent by it gravity.
So to clarify, if you put a clock on a satellite orbiting earth and a clock on the earth, the clock on the satellite would go faster than the one on earth.

When will time travel be possible?

If it will ever be possible in the future, it must be possible now. It still isn't possible now but it will definitely be possible in the future.

How do you fix a flux capacitor?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The central component of a flux capacitor is a charged dilithium crystal. This is very difficult to obtain, but the other components (pre-rearranged dark matter etc.) are quite common. Try and find a scrapped space-drone, as most of these contain a small amount of lesser, or opaque dilithium. Once you gather enough, bring it to any major astrophysics lab, as the black hole based equipment should be enough to recombine it. Or, since you are already have a good enough imagination, just cause one to spontaneously appear, then go and kill the space-dinosaur.

What makes time travel possible?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's not, exactly. Travel into the future is possible, at least theoretically, and in fact we're all doing it at one second per second. You could increase the rate by accelerating in space; according to the theory of relativity, this has the effect of making time pass more slowly for you, which is virtually the same thing as traveling into the future. At the speed of light, all times are the same time and all places are the same place.

As a practical matter, any speeds we can achieve have a negligible effect on time, but the theory is sound.

Traveling into the past is thought to be impossible because it would violate causality. As an illustration, consider the question "what if you went back in time and killed your grandfather before your father was conceived", also known as the Grandfather Paradox... you prevented your father from being born, so you can't have been born either, but if you weren't born you couldn't have killed your grandfather, so your father was born and thus so were you, except then you could go back and kill your grandfather...

The easiest solution to the problem is to assume that anything that violates causality is impossible.

Additional evidence that time travel into the past is impossible comes from, again, relativity. Traveling faster than light is effectively traveling into the past, and faster than light travel is impossible, so it makes sense that traveling into the past is also impossible.
