Is it okay to dip expired tobacco?

In answer to this, I would say that it's not OK to use chewing tobacco AT ALL- it's a sure recipe for getting mouth or throat cancer, and carries a much higher risk of this than tobacco does if you just smoke it. Don't do it- if you've got to consume baccy in some form or another, try to stick to cigarettes!!

What is the nicotine content of camel Turkish silver?

Supposedly, the limit on the nicotine content in the US is something like 1 to 1.5 mg/ per cigarette. However, cigarettes like Newports seem to have a stronger nicotine content than say Camel Menthols, so based on personal experience, I'd say a Camel Filter has about 1.3 mg of nicotine +/- .1 mg.

Is marijuana and tobacco a bad combination?

Cigarettes are a stress reliever and also eliminate hunger, which help you lose weight. However, cigarettes are extremely deadly and addictive; they can cause numerous types of cancer (mainly lung cancer) and serious health complications (such as short breath, skin discoloration, black tongue, etc.) Marijuana can also relieve stress and pain, which is why it is used in certain, serious medical situations. However, marijuana has more toxins than cigarettes and can cause just as many diseases or forms of cancer as cigarettes. Marijuana is also addictive and can seriously alter your brain power, as it directly affects memory skills.

Many people think that marijuana is harmless, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. Anything you smoke to inhale is not good for you, and should be avoided. Marijuana is addictive and is deadly. People obviously know that cigarettes are deadly and are aware of its effects.

Where to buy tobacco leaves in UK?

As far as I'm aware - you can't buy unprocessed tobacco leaves in the UK. They need to be processed - to get rid of any insects etc that may be 'lurking' in the foliage.

Is it safe to buy tobacco on line?

Well - you wont have such of problems if you order from Tobaccoonline.co.uk

The terms are clear - any customs troubles = we reship the goods.

Black and white sales and delivery terms:

www.tobaccoonline.co.uk

For those praising sites not accepting credit cards you are BADLY WRONG.

If you use your credit/debit card for any purchase you are 100% covered - the merchant MUST deliver within reasonable time frame /30 Days max/

If you make payment via a bank wire transfer - you may also send your money to Nigeria - same result- no way to defend yourself.

If the purchase is made with credit card you have always a shield like a dispute.

Dispute placed with you credit card issuer results the merchant /seller/ to be obligated to respond otherwise the charge will be reversed ,and if the merchant /seller/ gets more than certain percentage of disputes,or charge backs - he will not only loose money

from your transaction- he will also be subjected to a high penalty and or merchant account closure.

So before you pay someone by depositing funds into their bank account - think twice.

Be aware of the "small print" before you agree to the sales terms.

All the best

I don't know about tobacco king but I bought from "www.tobaccoonline.co.uk " and "cheapcigarettetobacco.co.uk". tobaccoonline was fine BUT DON'T BUY from cheapcigarettestobacco . Come up "cheap cigarettes made in Australia" on Google. They took charge twice from my bank account. They admitted their mistake and said will refund shortly but never done. Also half of cigarettes didn't arrive.

Yes, I and my friends have had a few deliveries from www.tobaccoking.co.uk and they have always arrived on time and the quality is exactly the same as we buy in the UK. They don´t ask for any card or bank details, but send you payment instructions with the confirmation. Would definitely recommend them.

*** BE WARNED ***

As a warning to others I have decided to write on here. I bought from Tobacco king a few times and all was ok. When I placed a bigger order it did not arrive, despite many communications with them I never got the tobacco. Here are a few emails I sent them and the contradicting emails I received

(Mine)I received your email on 30th September and unfortunately I have still not received my tobacco. Could you please follow it up your end to see what is happening with it, I have allowed extra time for the Postal Strikes. Thank you.

(His) We have just checked the progress of your goods on the Correos (Spanish Post Office) website and, sorry to say, but we can see that they haven´t moved since 30/9. From past experience we know that this means they have been stopped by Customs. Your tracking number is ********** so if you go tohttp://www.correos.es/dinamic/plantillas/home1.asp you can see where your goods are. We have printed out below what it says on their website. Unfortunately this is beyond our control and Customs will confiscate and destroy the goods. This is not a regular occurrence but does happen from time to time and we point out twice in our FAQ to check the legality. Over a year our regular customers save 100s of pounds or more, even if they lose some goods to Customs. We value your business and as a gesture of goodwill we will give you a 20% discount on your next order, so that over the 2 orders you will still make a saving, compared to UK prices.

(Mine)Thank you for your email

I do not understand why Spanish customs would seize the tobacco as it is not illegal to send it out of the country. I have purchased tobacco abroad before and had it seized by UK customs and I was then informed by them so I had the option to lose it or pay the excess duty.

Previous orders from you have been sent from within the UK and sent Recorded Delivery why was this one different?

I would appreciate it if you could explain these points please, thank you.

(His) We have checked with Correos and the goods were taken at Stanstead. We send our customer´s orders all packed and labelled in large cartons to someone else in the UK who then sends them on by recorded delivery to the individual customers and we lose about 5% to Customs, but Customs don´t know who you are, other websites send the goods direct to the customer by post and lose 15-20% to both customs and theft (because all postmen know that most small parcels coming from Spain are tobacco products). Our regular customers, like yourself, save 100s or more per year even if they lose some to Customs.

(Mine) Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly, it is appreciated.

As I know where the package is and it is labelled I can now contact Stanstead Airport and offer to pay the excise duty so it will not be a total loss. Thank you again for your help.

(His) You won´t get them as they are not sent direct to you. Why would you want to bring yourself to the notice of Customs?

(Mine) I have contacted Customs and Excise at Stanstead Airport and enquired about seized packages. They have informed me that if a package has been seized they legally would have had to inform me so I would have the opportunity to appeal against the seizure, they say if I have not received a letter from them then no goods were seized. I have not yet given them personal details as I wanted to clarify it with you first. Can you please tell me on from which airport they were sent and on which date. Thank you.

(His) We explained the method of sending them in a previous email. The way we send them stops customs getting your name. They write to our UK contact and we don´t appeal because no one ever wins.

(Mine) This is what you wrote in a previous email

We send our customer´s orders all packed and labelled in large cartons to someone else in the UK who then sends them on by recorded delivery to the individual customers

This states that the customers label is already on the package ready for distribution within the UK which is why I believe they would have contacted me and all the other customers who had an order in the carton if they seized it.

I will contact them again tomorrow and give them my personal details and hopefully they will then be able to clarify it for me. If you could tell me from where and on what date they were sent it would be appreciated

(His) The dates are on the Correos website and you have their tracking number. Only once have they ever written to all the customers in the carton. Regardless of what you think Customs do not always give the information as it is, because they want to shut down all the internet tobacco sites and they feel that the best way is to cause problems between the buyers and the sellers.

(Mine) As you have contradicted yourself several times in your emails regarding customers names being revealed on the packages and customs have not contacted me I can only conclude that the tobacco was never sent to me. Obviously there is nothing I can do about it but I find it very sad that when people put their trust in you it is abused. I am on low income and can ill afford to lose that kind of money but I will accept the loss and just hope your conscience prevents you doing this to others.

(HIs) Your wrong, you know we send the goods. We send the packages in cartons to someone else, who sends them on. Although each package has the customers names on them, they send the letter to our person in the UK, who never bothers to keep them, because they are warning letters that we ignore. Only once have they ever sent letters to each of the people in the carton. I wish they would then we wouldn´t be having this correspondence. Unfortunately it was your first purchase, but there is nothing we can do about it.

(Mine) This was not my first order, I have ordered several times from you before which is why I am so disappointed.

Again in your email you have contradicted yourself. You say that only once have letters been sent out to all the customers and your previous email says the way you send them stops customs getting our names.

( We explained the method of sending them in a previous email. The way we send them stops customs getting your name. They write to our UK contact and we don´t appeal because no one ever wins.)

According to the Correos website the goods with the number you sent me are still there as there has been no movement shown since 30th September even that seems strange if the goods were sent to Stanstead Airport it would show the movement out of your country which it does not.

As each email contradicts a previous one I think it is natural for me to be suspicious and in turn very disappointed. I thought you were a reliable source that I could depend on and I am saddened to find you are not.

(HIs) If you have had a number of deliveries from us you should know we are honest and always send the goods, which we do. We can only give you info as we get it from Correos. They told us that the goods were taken at Stanstead. Preventing customs knowing your names was because the goods are inside the carton, but as we said usually they only send a letter to our UK contact in Oxford. He never keeps them, in fact because he recognizes the envelope he doesn´t even bother opening them. You will have saved lots of money with us in the past, because all tobacco websites have the same problem are you going back to buying from a shop? We put enough warnings on our site to check the legalities, but you obviously either didn´t check or didn´t care, but now prefer to blame us. We are sure you are disappointed, we´re not happy about it, we would rather all the goods got through, but it really is pot luck, we had a period where we lost nothing for 9 months, but that was a lucky period. Try someone who sends the goods in individual packages from Spain and see how many just disappear from theft (mainly postal workers).

DO NOT USE TOBACCOKING.CO.UK - THEY ARE SCAMMERS!

IF YOU HAVE ORDERED TOBACCO AND NOT RECEIVED IT, PLEASE POST ON HERE SO THAT WE CAN ALL GET TOGETHER AND TAKE ACTION!

i also ordered from tobacco king - they have a very relaxed attitude - it must have been seized - no offer of a refund

I also lost money to them Carl Jackson who banks at Lloyds who couldn't care less that one of their customer accounts is there to defraud people & commit V.A.T fraud & probably Income Tax Evasion. I lost £183 in Sept/Oct 2009. I was told the same bulls**t by them as the long review above (interesting read well written) I decided to call the police as when I checked with H.M customs they told me they hadn't confiscated any parcel addressed to me. If there was a confiscation by Customs one has the opportunity of paying the tax, which I would have done. I was under the impression they were a U.K wholesaler as they advertise themselves as "Tobacconists based in Edgware" The Police initially showed some interest in investigating further & issued Crime No & interviewed me (by phone) twice, unfortunatly they said they couldn't take it any further due to lack of evidence, but it at least brings the name CARL JACKSON to their attention, probably not for first time! I notice that they have stopped using tobaccoking website, probably as there are too many negative reviews. I bet they are thieving people's money via some other site. Willom88

Does chewing tobacco raise your heart rate?

Yes, and although I'm a smoker (trying to quit) and many people find it a disgusting habit I find chewing tobacco is worse. Also by chewing tobacco your heart rate just doesn't go up, but it discolors your teeth (worse than smoking) and if you have a mustache or beard it can leave an ugly amber stain and smell terrible. Chewing tobacco has a higher risk of mouth, tongue and throat cancer.

I am looking at the above answer and wonder where the research is on chewing tobacco raising the heart rate worse than smoking. I use chewing tobacco and work at a dentist office. We have seen no oral cancer in chewing tobacco users in the 6 years I have been there. Proper oral care can keep teeth white. Chewing tobacco IS NOT SAFE. Compared to smoking however, the long term health effects appear significantly lower.

I work for doctors (not dentists) and even in medical books it will tell you that if a tobacco user you should see your dentist on a regular basis so the dentist can not only keep your teeth and gums in good shape, but they also check inside the mouth (including the tongue) for cancer. My dentist concurs. This is the article where I got my information (note ... Mayo clinic.) There are no copyright laws on this article: Science News After snuff use, heart rate increased by about 15 beats per minute (25 percent), systolic blood pressure went up by 12 mmHg (10 percent), and measurements of adrenalin in the bloodstream increased by more than 50 percent. "These results suggest a very significant excitatory effect of substances contained in spit tobacco on the part of the nervous system regulating the heart and blood vessels," says Virend Somers, M.D., Ph.D., the Mayo Clinic cardiologist who led the study. "Although we did anticipate some increase in blood pressure, we were surprised at the magnitude of the increase, as well as the very striking increases in heart rate and plasma epinephrine, or adrenalin. We anticipated that since these individuals were young and healthy and were accustomed to using spit tobacco, that any responses that we measured would be blunted. This makes the degree of increases even more noteworthy." Robert Wolk, M.D., Ph.D., lead author on this study, noted that these results have implications both for long-term users and for individuals with established heart disease. "The degree of speeding up of heart rate and increase in blood pressure, as well the increase in adrenalin (epinephrine) levels, suggest that if similar changes occur in people with established heart disease, who use spit tobacco, there may be reason to expect adverse consequences," Dr. Wolk says. "Dipping" is Rising More than five million adults - and more than 750,000 adolescents - use smokeless tobacco in the United States. Snuff use is increasing, especially in young males who participate in athletics. Its cardiovascular effects are not as clear or well understood as those of cigarettes, partly because fewer studies have been done, and partly because many spit tobacco users are relatively young and the bad effects may not be apparent unless use continues for prolonged periods. Blunting a Protective Mechanism By placing electrodes into the sympathetic nerves of the participants, the researchers also obtained a window on the message from the brain to the blood vessels on a moment-by-moment basis. Normally, when blood pressure is increased by an external substance, the body seeks to protect the cardiovascular system by decreasing heart rate and dilating the blood vessels. It does this by "shutting down" the sympathetic nervous system, so that heart rate is slower, and the widening of blood vessels starts to bring blood pressure down. The researchers demonstrated this by giving another group of subjects an intravenous medication, phenylephrine, to raise blood pressure about as much as they saw when spit tobacco was used. In response, those subjects' heart rates decreased by more than 10 beats a minute and the activity of the sympathetic nervous system went down to very low levels. "This is an example of how the body tries to protect itself from the higher blood pressures," Dr. Somers explains. "However, when the blood pressure is raised by spit tobacco, the heart rate actually speeds up dramatically and there is no decrease in the sympathetic nervous system activity. This tells us that the normal protective mechanisms which help dampen down spikes in blood pressure are blunted when using spit tobacco. "Spit tobacco is a very potent cause of acute increases in blood pressure, heart rate, and adrenalin levels," Dr. Somers concludes. "Since many athletes, who are already under a fair amount of stress in competitive situations, also use spit tobacco, the blood pressure and heart rate increases need to be recognized and understood. And since spit tobacco not only raises blood pressure but also blunts the body's normal defense response to blood pressure increases, long-term dipping would seem likely to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease." ### Other authors on the study include: Abu S. M. Shamsuzzaman, MBBS, Ph.D., Anna Svatikova, BA, Christina Huyber, Corey Huck, BA, Krzysztof Narkiewicz, M.D., Ph.D. Adapted from materials provided by Mayo Clinic.

Which chemical in tobacco smoke binds to hemoglobin causing red blood cells to carry less then their normal load of oxygen?

CO (carbon monoxide). It binds to the same sites on hemoglobin that oxygen would, except with a much greater affinity than oxygen does. Think of hemoglobin as a bus transporting oxygen from the lungs to the peripheral tissues, and think of CO as the guy who takes oxygen's seat so that he can't ride the bus. CO is also the chemical that kills people in house fires from smoke inhalation.

What chewing tobacco has the most nicotine?

I would probably say Grizzly, it has been known to live up to its slogan "Low Price. No Sacrifice."

However to popular belief, the nicotine content is just higher, they do not put fiberglass in any moist snuff to increase nicotine intake. That being a common misconception i thought i would just throw it out there.

But some believe that Kodiak has the highest, they are made by the same company, and having used both (I prefer Grizzly over Kodiak, due to the price) I would probably say that they seem about the same, but I have a bias for Grizz.

Skoal and Copenhagen definitely have lower nicotine content than Grizzly and Kodiak, along with other brands like Hawken, Red Seal, Longhorn, etc.

So definitely either Grizzy or Kodiak, but unless the company (Conwood Tobacco) publishes information on this, I doubt you'll be able to find out.
