What are the educational requirements for mixed martial arts?
There are no educational requirements but there is an experience requirement. You begin competitive fighting at a local area and begin in the amateur leagues. When your record is good enough expect to move to a professional league. MMA is a business so they will only broadcast the best fighters with the best win records and stage presence. The better fighter you are, the more success you will enjoy at MMA. No degree required to rear naked choke someone.

How many rounds did the first Clay-Liston fight last?
I think it was more like 7, Liston quit on his seat after the sixth I believe. Because in the 5th is when Sonny (possibly) juiced his gloves and ali had his famous 5th round where he couldn't see anything and he still managed to stay away from the "big bear".
How many UFC fighters have died because of or just after a fight?
I don't believe any UFC fighter has ever died. And out of all Mixed-Martial Artists, 3 have died from injuries suffered in regulated professional US MMA fights.
October 20, 2007 - Sam Vasquez, 35 died in a "Renegades Extreme Fighting" bout in Houston, TX. In the third round the fight ended by technical knockout. ====Answer Update====
August 11, 2012 - Tyrone Mimms in a bout in South Carolina died from of an unknown cause. He came out strong in the first round and he was so dominating that the referee considered ending the fight. However, Mimms tired out in the second round, and the referee stopped the fight. Mimms smiled, spoke coherently, and told a ringside doctor he was ok, and that he needed rest. With some assistance, he walked to the locker room, where he removed his gloves and drank some water. Within a few minutes, Mimms began breathing heavily, he became incoherent, and became unconscious. He never regained consciousness. The autopsy was inconclusive.

How do you become a mixed martial arts referee in Washington state?
Unless you've had some training in some form of martial arts, it's not that easy to become a ref. You really need to know the sport starting from the inside. If you are experienced in MMA, it's important to align yourself with a local promotion or several promotions and ref some beginning and ammy fights. See how you do and get some experience. Talk to some pro-level refs and shadow them at events. Ask them questions and get to know more about the pro-end of the sport as far as refereeing. Once you've ref'd some fights, I suggest you then contact your state's Athletic Commission, the "AC" (this is true in any state, not just Washington.) Find out if they sanction and regulate MMA. If they do, you can then go online to download an MMA referee application form. Fill out the form, enclose any support documents the state requests, pay your fee, and then send it in. If they feel you're experienced enough and worthy, they'll certify you. Some states require you obtain formalized training...and often they have classes you need to attend. Each state is different. Or you can take an online class to get the basics on the standard rules and regulations (like by going here: www.mmarefschool.org/Workshops). What's important is what you do AFTER you've been certified. Just because you're licensed doesn't mean you'll get work. The AC assigns jobs to you, and it can be very political. In a perfect world, they should just go down their list and assign the next person in that area to ref, but it doesn't always happen that way. So I would call them on a regular basis and keep bugging them for work. Continue to ref local ammy events and let the AC know you're doing that. Eventually your persistance will pay off! You can go here to find out Washington State's requirements: http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/athletics/ Good luck -

What percent body fat are UFC fighters?
UFC fighters typically have body fat percentages ranging from about 6% to 15%, depending on their weight class and individual physique. Lighter fighters often fall on the lower end of this spectrum, while heavier fighters may be closer to 15%. However, these percentages can vary significantly based on factors like training, diet, and individual genetics. Ultimately, maintaining a low body fat percentage is crucial for optimizing performance and weight management in the sport.
