Why is it important to make marriage work?

Because it's the biggest commitment you will probably ever make in your life and also, if there are children involved you have to think further than your own feelings. It is so easy when some little thing goes wrong in a relationship to brush it off and find someone else. It takes a mature person to stand firm and work through the problems. No different than being in debt, but still paying your bills. If you don't conform to marriage or making your word ring true, then you are basically letting yourself down. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. For women there is no incentive in any western "safety net" country. Extorted tax dollars have removed the need for the male role model / provider / protector. He has now been replaced with the state daddy, and the ever intrusive police. On a level deeper than most people comprehend, its part of the same socialism that will inevitably implode this society unless big governments are voted out.

History of the United States
Colonial America
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

What year was America formed?

First Answer1799

They just settled the war in 1776, so most people think it's that year.

Better Answer

The American Colonies unilaterally declared their independence from England on July 4, 1776. Not surprisingly, the British did not accept that declaration and used military force to suppress the rebellion. The war dragged on for years. Ultimately, the British were unsuccessful. The Revolutionary War ended with the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia, October 19, 1781. The Kingdom of Great Britain formally recognized the United States as an independent country with the Treaty of Paris, September 3, 1783.

The Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation for the United States of America in 1777, which formally organized the government. After the Revolution, a much stronger document, the United States Constitution, was adopted in 1789.

Any one of those dates could be accepted as the date upon which the United States of America was formed. Traditionally, however, we tend to recognize the earliest date, July 4, 1776, as the birth date of the nation.
