Can you become an officer when you are an enlisted?

There are four ways to become an officer while serving enlisted. 1. Battlefield commission. President Reagan's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General John Vessey, received a direct commission at the battle of Anzio in WWII. 2. Direct commission. Enlisted members who already hold at least a bachelor's degree in a skill that is deemed useful to the military can apply for a direct commission in that field. 3. OCS. Enlisted members who already have a degree can also compete for an invitation to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS), ending with a commission. 4. ROTC Green-to-Gold program. Enlisted members can apply through the chain of command for a "Green to Gold Active Duty Option." Those who win these appointments remain on active duty while attending a college ROTC program. Upon graduation, they return to regular duty as a second lieutenant with a college degree as well. Your pay and benefits continue, but you have to use GI Bill or other sources for the cost of tuition and books. Good luck!

They are not aware that the WAR was faught.....Death....Enjuries.....Pension.....Family Pension. Socked to hear and read 50,000 troopsto beposted at CHINA BORDER...1962.....gOVT. HAS NO MONEY for those killed and woulded in WAR or on duties on border. The present posted defence personnel are realising and are frustated. I am Ex- senior sailor. I meet PBOR, DISCUSS and moralise them that the Govt. is doing its best having welfare at heart which .....? I do write and pass my worries as information. I realise , it is looked into but I remaim worried as a senior citizen ank keep praying GOD in the interest of the NATION. Regards, Daya Shanker Lal Srivastava Ex MCPO II. Mumbai.909869657053).

What is the abbreviation for officer?

I would like to mention here that Office Manager has no known abbreviation in the English language. Words like Dep't, sos, ltd, have always been known. However, Office Manager loses its meaning and taste if abbreviated and to me would be a new phenomenon. Just write O/M OR OM on a sheet of paper and ask your friend what it means. He can make neither tail nor head for it. Believe me.Thus, its usage should be abhorred by all means. Jabhad.jabhad@Yahoo.com
