How do you fix an unrecognized usb flash drive?

IF YOU HAVE A SLIDING FLASH DRIVE AND IT WAS BENT SOMEHOW, READ THIS... IT WILL SAVE YOU FROM DISASTER!

the problem may be that the inner chip was either pushed back or pushed forward so that the computer could not recognize it

don't worry-- there's an easy fix.

1. open up the shell of the flash drive (it's ok... you probably won't mess anything important up)

2. look for the chip

3. play around with it. push it forward or backwards so that it lines up in its original position

4. if you're succesful, plug it into your computer and it will pop up OR select your flash drive from the computer menu

5. save your documents elsewhere, and i'd advise to throw out that old flash drive!

What is a micro USB?

Micro USB is a USB connector that is very small (there is also mini USB which is slightly larger).

It requires a special USB cable, but is universal in the sense that USB is --- any manufacturer can use it. (Unlike, for instance, the connector that apple uses on the iPhone).

What is flash memory-?

Computing memory that retains data in the absence of a power supply i.e. it is non-volatile memory. A computer chip with a read-only memory that retains its data when the power is turned off and that can be electronically erased and reprogrammed without being removed from the circuit board, often used in fax machines. Flash memory stores computer data in a solid state format (vs. magnetic). Answer: Flash memory is a form of EAPROM (Electrically Alterable Programmable Read-Only Memory). Each bit of data in a flash memory device is stored in a transistor called a floating gate. The floating gate can only be accessed though another transistor, the control gate. The process the control gate uses to access the floating gate is a field emission phenomenon known as Fowler-Nordheim tunneling. Tunneling allows voltage to flow from the control gate to the floating gate through the dielectric layer of oxide which separates them.

Which media used flash usb drive?

non volatile semiconductor media is used in flash memory.

What is the best way to change yourself if you are kind of geeky and you want to be rocker-preppy?

rocker & preppy are completley different from my perspective, but i'd say just to dress differently. Be more outgoing, & not weird about things, dont make things aqward, & act like you don't care about much, it'll get the cool kids to like you, + dressing in popular clothes helps.. if you have a skin problem, take care of it etc. Rocker and preppy doesn't happen. Be more outgoing, learn what Polos are and own MANY (as in, 30? I currently have 45 or so), go to parties and learn to hold liquor.

How do you save things to your flash drive?

You can make a shortcut to that website and put it on your flash drive.

You have to go to each page and save the page as html. In most cases the links will not point to the correct place anymore, but you should have captured all the data and pictures.

What does it mean to 'mount a drive within a backup'?

It means to create an iso of the software (use winISO) or game and use a virtual drive eg use daemon tools to mount the iso/image

*Actually, the above is regarding creating the iso image or "drive" if the Iso is OF a drive. Mounting one is a different thing altogether. To mount it is to "load" it basically, but due to what it is, it is called "mounting" it. An Iso can be of a whole PC operating system, or even software or a game. Daemon Tools is no longer. A program called VirtualBox is great. I'm not sure you'd call an Iso of a game a "drive". Best check that out carefully! But you can also mount an Iso image that isn't of a drive. Words, words, words! Ug!

Making and using Iso images is a very specialized and potentially harmful thing! If you don't know exactly what you're doing you'd best study it a LOT! Which is what I'm doing that I ended up finding this post!

***Someone who really knows needs to this in detail to help us all avoid huge problems. :)

Why the hard drive light keeps flashing?

Magnetic information does not last forever, and sector ID information gradually degrades to a point where you encounter file errors. Start by checking for any file structure problems on the drive, use a utility such as Scandisk to examine the drive and search for bad sectors. If a failed sector involves part of an .EXE or .COM file, that file would be corrupt and should be restored from a backup. If there are no problems detected with the file structure, replace the drive signal cable. Otherwise, replace the suspected drive outright.
