How do you install a hi-speed USB host controller on a Win XP computer?

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is an input/output port standard for computers and digital equipment, which allows easy transfer of data via a direct connection or cable. Older USB version is 1.1 and the latest is USB 2.0, also known as hi-speed USB. A hi-speed USB host controller refers to the hardware inside the computer that provides hi-speed USB functionality to the ports.

Usually windows XP have the drivers for most of the USB devices otherwise you may also use the Driver's Disk to install the drivers.

You may also ask a local technician to fix and install the USB devices. I can suggest you one at http://www.iyogi.net

As with any file system, when you delete it it makes the area previously used by the file available to be used again.

How much storage can a 20gb ipod hold?

Answer: It depends.

Not all mp3's are created equal, depending on bitrate, song length & such, mp3s can vary in size quite a bit. Many mp3's are encoded at lower bitrates, 128 kb/s or lower. This results in reduced file sizes as well as reduced sound quality. 128 is fine for many people, but others dislike the sound quality and so they rip their cd's at higher bitrates, resulting in larger files.

I dont know where you get your mp3's so we cant tell exactly what your results will be, but if we make a couple assumptions we can do some ballpark math.

If we assume 128 kb/s bitrate, which is pretty average, you get about 1 minute of music per megabyte.

If we assume the average song is about 4 minutes, 4 minutes = 4 megabytes or so...

1 gb = 1024 megabytes = 256 'songs'

So 20 gb would give you around 5120 songs.... give or take.

Of course, if you wanted better sound quality, you might rip your cds at 256 kb/s, but then you would only be able to carry half as many songs.

If your computer doesn't have a safely remove button is your USB devise still safely removed?

If there isn't a button, you can go to My Computer, right click the device, and in the menu, there should be an option to eject safely. If you remove it before you "safely remove" when you insert a pen drive you will the safety remove icon in your PC.

What letter represents a computer's pen drive?

It depends. For a Windows PC, the only drives it cannot be are a: (Floppy), b: (Obsolete), or c: (Main Hard Drive). d: is often but not always used as a CD or DVD drive designation. Then, letters are assigned based on what else is attached to the computer, I.E. SD Cards, external drives, network drives, other pen drives, etc. Unless a whole bunch of things are attached, the pen drive would generally be between d: - g: . If it's the last thing inserted into the computer, it should be a later number.

What are Flash disks?

Flash memory stores permanent information on some palm-sized computers. Unlike RAM (random-access memory), flash memory can continue to store information in the absence of a power source. Palm devices often make use of flash memory to store the operating system and core applications. Unlike ROM (read-only memory), you can write to flash memory, making it possible to update the operating system and applications via software. Flash memory is more expensive than ROM. Memory sticks, flash drives etc (the little sticks you plug into a USB port) all use flash memory

What are all the types of SD cards?

Some MMC Cards are interchangeable with SD Cards but since that's an issue which was not asked about, I won't go into any of those specifics.

As far as "Types" of SD Cards, currently there are only 3 types:

1) SD

2) SDHC (High Capacity)

3) SDXC (Extended Capacity)

Now, there are 3 SIZES or Physical Variations of SD Cards and each one can be any of the above Capacity types.

1) Standard SD

2) MiniSD

3) MicroSD (Formerly TransFlash AKA TF)

So, there are a total of 9 possible SD Cards to choose from (not withstanding the many memory capacities, transfer speeds, and/or special features):

a) SD

b) SDHC

c) SDXC

d) MiniSD

e) MiniSDHC

f) MiniSDXC

g) MicroSD

h) MicroSDHC

i) MicroSDXC

SPECIAL FEATURE SD CARDS:

SD-Plus: SD Card with USB Interface

Eye-Fi: SD Card with WiFi Upload Capabilities

Cap. Display: Display on SD Card which shows remaining space on card
