There's no 'surefire' way any more. In the early days of mobile phones, different carriers were allocated certain 'block' of numbers. For example, all Vodaphone numbers would start 079xx perhaps.

Since the de-regulation of the phone system, customers can take their number from one carrier to another - so the original allocations have no meaning in fact any more.

The only way to find out - would be to use a directory enquiry service - even then - they may not tell you which carrier a person is with, due to privacy limitations.

I have heard from a number of sources that Verizon may be coming into marathon county fairly soon. The reason they are not at the moment already is that cellcom has/had a contract with alltel that gave them exclusive rights in marathon county. With the merger of alltel and Verizon, that contract is being closely looked at again and I have heard from a few sources that they have found a loophole of some sort in that contract which would allow them to come into the county.

Yes, usually. Phones with SIM cards, from ATT, T-Mobile, etc., for example can be. If you have a phone with a SIM card, you can buy a new phone, and slip the card into the new phone, and off you go. Phones from Verizon, Nextel, Boost, etc... that don't have SIM cards, I'm not sure off.

Well for 1 person it cost 10 dollars a month for (i think)500 texts which is not unlimited for unlimited it cost 30 dollars for family to get unlimited you only have to pay 30 dollars once and that's it to have unlimited texting to check.

If you download large or lots of files, yes. If you are using the connection for email, general web browsing, YouTube (Standard Definition), and light gaming then you will be fine.
