split $200 between 4 people, the bride and groom promising lots of booze and alot of free food. I guess that's all fine and well, but unlimited fountains of free alcohol is not that exciting to me, though bringing home good food is always nice. None the less, money is the only thing that pays the bills. Other musician friends started encourage us to charge more, said they started at 1300. So, we did a little research on line, aka looking up wedding band bookers and found that most people start at about $1,200, and go up to $5,ooo! The highest I saw was $15,000 dollars... whew... I'd play weddings full time if we could get gigs like that!

Anyway, in this day and age, with ipod dj's and people burning cd's instead of supporting the artists with their dollar, I have to say that if you are willing to go through the expense of food, booze and renting a place to have your reception, the buck shouldn't stop at getting a good live band to make it a real party. It's supposed to be that one special day.... and the way things seem out there these days, maybe one day you won't be able to hire a group of people that know how to actually play instruments.
