----- Apple Inc. is different from every other computer manufacturer in the fact that the company not only makes computers (hardware), but also the operating systems that run on them (software). Apple's line of desktop and notebook computers are collectively called Macs (Mac is short for Macintosh), and its operating system is called Mac OS X (X is pronounced "ten" - it is the roman numeral, not the letter). Apple's line of portable computing devices are known as iPhone and iPod touch. They do not run Mac OS X, but rather a scaled down version of the same operating system called iPhone OS X. ----- Windows Movie Maker will not run in Mac OS X, the native operating system installed on Apple computers. However, all current Mac models (as of October 2008) will allow Windows to be installed via Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, or Parallels Desktop for Mac. If Windows is installed on the computer, then it is possible to run Windows Movie Maker on Apple branded hardware.

The audio file name extension of the Real Player file has to be in a format compatible with Windows Movie Maker:

.aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wma

Click on File, Save Project. Choose a location to save the video project, name it and there you go!

Import your music. Drag and drop them side-by-side in the Music/Audio track in the Time-line view of Windows Movie Maker.

Remember, there is only ONE audio track to work with in the program, so songs must run consecutively on the track.

There is no version 2.5 for Windows Movie Maker that I know of. However, you can download version 2.1 from this URL:

Right-click the Background layer and select the option "Layer from background." You can name it whatever you like, select "OK," and then it becomes like any normal layer - this means that you can just delete it like a normal layer as well.

You can only add you voice to a project if you have the narrate feature with your Windows Movie Maker. If you are using Windows Live Movie Maker, then the feature is NOT available.

If you don't have the Narrate feature available, then use your Windows sound recorder and you microphone to narrate. Create narration files (sound files) that can be imported into Windows Movie Maker. Then simply place the audio in the desired spot on the audio/music track in your project.

Find the lyrics online. Copy them to a word processing file.

Then, add your audio/music file to Windows Movie Maker.

Copy and paste lyrics individually from the Word file into the Titles/Credits feature in the program.

Place the individual lyrics into the Title Overlay track so that they coincide with the audio/music.

No, Windows Movie Maker is a free download. But, the program already comes free with Windows operating systems. So unless your current Movie Maker is not working properly and you wish to download and reinstall the program again, you don't need to download it.

By the way, if you own a Mac... you can't download Windows Movie Maker at all. Mac machines include iMovie software for video editing if I am not mistaken. (And I could be mistaken since I haven't used/owned a Mac for many, many moons now).

You can't show two videos simutaneously in Windows Movie Maker because it only has one video track to work with.

If you are talking about side-by-side video though, you can install the Split Screen (vertical) effect. Windows Movie Maker doesn't have this effect already installed so you'll have to download it. I believe Rehanfx offers the Split Screen effect though. You might check it out:

Okay, so you want to go into iTunes first. Click Edit---> Preferences---> Advanced, and look at the place where your iTunes files are located. Then, go back into your movie maker project and click Add Music. It will bring up all of the places in your computer that you can get music from. Go to the place that your iTunes box said it was. The last folder you should click on is "Music". Then you find the song you want in those folders. Click it and it should be added to your project. You can move it in the movie from there. Files exist in different formats in order to provide for any task a suited format that does what it is used for as close to optimally as possible. Sound formats store sound information, image formats store image information, and you can't use an image format to store sound information.

But even inside these categories there are different formats. Some are just older formats that are still used despite there being a better suited format available.
For example, the BMP image format could be called obsolete, because the JPG format achieves what it does better - it stores images at a lower filesize with equal quality. However, BMP has an advantage over JPG in a certain field, which is universality. That's why BMP is still used sometimes today.

It's very similar in the other file categories. There are many types of sound file formats, and each of them has its advantage over the others.

One frequent mistake is mixing up "file format" and "file extension". While one file might be called ".2p3" and another one ".mtf", they could have the same file format as ".txt" - plain text. Software can create files with different extensions as the developer needs it, but the file format is usually the same as an existing one.

If you've already saved your file, or haven't saved yet, click File>Save As... then you type your title, and below the first scroll down menu, there is a second one that says File Format. Click the menu and you get the available formats that you convert the file into. Hope this helps.

For the highest resolution videos (1080p/720p) or 'Blu-ray', MPEG-2 and H.264 are the best codecs.

MPEG-2 will usually have the file extension .m2v, and H.264 will usually have .m4v

You can delete part of some music on Imovie by putting the playhead on the area where you would like to cut it at. Once there, hold the keys "apple/command T" at the same time. There should be a line in the area where you had cut the music. Select one part of it(the part you would like to delete) and press delete.

If your videos will not play in Windows Movie Maker, they are probably in the incorrect format. Check the file name extension (format) by right-clicking the video and choosing Properties from the drop-down menu that appears.

File name extensions (formats) for video must be one of the following:

.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv

If your video does not contain one of the file name extensions listed above, then the video will need to be converted before importing it to Windows Movie Maker.

You can Increase the brightness of clips, but you can't add arrows or highlight clips in Windows Movie Maker. The program is very basic with limited features. Adding extras such as you describe have to be done prior to importing in Photo/Picture editing programs.

There is no reverse video effect for Windows Movie Maker, but you can reverse a video using other programs.

Check to make sure you have Automatic Updates enabled. This will ensure your Windows programs are up-to-date with fixes, patches, etc. To find out if the Automatic Updates is enabled:

> Click Start, All Programs
> Windows Update (from list)

If Windows Update is not in your Programs list:

> Click Start, Control Panel
> System and Maintenance

Once you are in the menu, you can view the history of updates, change settings, restore hidden updates.

Click on Change Settings and make sure "Install Updates Automatically" is enabled.

Next, (and most importantly), back in the System and Maintenance menu, there is a real-time "Check for updates"option. This is the one you should click to make sure your Windows Operating system is up-to-date. Once the process is complete, you will be informed of any updates you need to install in addition to optional up-dates (if you have them selected).

In View Update History, review the update list. Note any "unsuccessful updates" (ones that failed to update automatically). For more information on how to manually download updates, visit the URL I've posted below:

Picture files compatible with Windows Movie Maker:

.bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf

If your pictures are in one of the above mentioned formats, they can be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

> Open your Windows Movie Maker program
> Click the Import Media button (top right corner)
> Browse for and locate the picture you want to import
> Click Import button

The picture now appears in the Imported Media pane. Drag and drop the picture into the Storyboard or Time-line view. Click the Play button in the Preview pane to see results.
