the shortcut is a use ful tool for accessing the application from a different location than original location i.e it creates duplicate path for launching the application for example if you have a software in 'd' drive and u put shortcut to desktop then you can launch application from desktop no need to go to 'd' drive and one important thing is if you delete the original location the u can not access the application from short cut

if anyone is still having trouble installing F-15 on Windows Vista, You can do a large install without messing with your windows updates
MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE REGISTRY AND DELETE ANY OLD F-15 FOLDER AFTER UNINSTALLING BEFORE YOU BEGIN
This is what finally worked for me:
a) got inspt103.exe from ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/janes/patches/f15/
b) placed it in ...usename\documents..... folder <<<<--->>>THIS IS IMPORTANT I THINK
c) apliied win98/me AND run as administrator Compatibility to the file
d) placed the F-15 CD in the DVD drive AND CLOSED autorun when it came up
e) right clicked inspt103.exe and ran it as administrator
.... THE FILE WILL EXTRACT ITSELF TO C:\JANES\F15
.... creating the root directory automatically
.... THE install starts automatically after the file extracts itself
f) select NOVICE or EXPERT
g) select CUSTOM INSTALLATION
h) select large install and cleck next until the installation starts AND let it complete
i) at the DIRECTX installation screen CLICK NEXT
j) and click finish
NOTE this installation is the 1.02F 3DFX installation
AS FAR A RUNNING THE GAME, it doesn't like windows vista video drivers so the menus will be screwed.
Onemore thing. I run this game with asolutely no compatibility applied. Except, it must be ran as Administrator, or the "registry path not found" error appears.
to run the game and access the menus after installation on vista, use the video card's win xp drivers.
my version is the 3dfx 1.12 version right out of the box, so the next thing is to install glide wrapper. 'am using 1.50.
DON'T TRY TO RUN THE GAME YET.
Your current drivers should be windows vista drivers, approved or otherwise.
Create a restore point and reboot.
Place the CD that came with your video card in the drive and exit autorun when it comes up.
Browse to the drivers\xp... folder
Right click on setup and run it as asministrator.
Install the drivers for win xp... Windows will complain... Just continue.
Reboot at the prompt.
Now run the game: You should have the menus.
Ensure that under GRAPHICS, 3dfx is checked.
Accept and set your other options.
Play the game
NOW, IF YOU'RE THRU' WITH THE GAME, GO TO
the DEVICE MANAGER, DISPLAY ADAPTERS, right click it and left click on PROPERTIES,
then left click the DRIVER tab , then left click on ROLL BACK DRIVER.
Let windows finish then it'll REBOOT.
That's it you're back to your windows vista drivers.
Caution, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN ANY OTHER APP WITH THE WIN-XP DRIVERS INSTALL,
WINDOWS WILL CRASH, AND REBOOT.
One more thing, you don't have to do this. Do it at your own risk.

It's solution is a hidden surface algorithm that is visibility problem. It was the first major problem in the field of 3D computer graphics. This process of hidden surface is called hiding and algorithm which is used called a hider.

Through many techniques we can determination hidden surface. There are different stages of hidden surfaces determination.

1. Back face Culling:- In back face culling, these object which are not solid in image, the back side of some Faces or polygons, in the mesh will never face the camera. So, no need to draw those faces. It is the responsibility of effect. If the camera happens to be inside a mesh, rather than seeing the inside surface of mesh it disappear completely.
2. Viewing frustum culling:- In this technique, a viewing frustum is a geometric representation of the volume of the virtual camera. So, those objects which are outside from the volume are not visible in the final image. So, they are discarded object those are lie on the boundary of viewing frustum. Those objects are cut into pieces along this boundary in the process called clipping.
3. Occlusion culling: - Occlusion culling is that where the objects are hidden by the other objects those are front of the computer so it is the fundamental problem of the computer. Here we use painter's Algorithm with this polygons are stored then draw back to front.
4. Contribution Culling: - In contribution culling we check objects those are far away from the view point, so these are not shown then through where we determine that which portion of image is shadow.
