What are port numbers explain?

A port number is a kind of address within a computer. It helps distinguish different services on a server. Thus, any data that goes to port 80 (TCP) will be processed by the Web server; data for other ports gets sent to other applications.

On the client side, the port number helps separate different "conversations". For example, if I load different Web pages at the same time, in my browser, one might be assigned to port 1024, the next to port 1025, etc. This is the origin port; the destination port is still port 80. But when data comes back from the server, my computer will receive it at port 1024, or port 1025, and thus know to which file the information must be added.

What makes the speed up of your computer the memory or the hard drive?

The main thing that will determine if your computer is slow or fast is the hardware that it has. The faster the hardware the faster your overall computer speed will be (generally). The main that slows down your computer is the the operating system. If you have used Windows XP in the past and made the move over to Windows Vista you would have noticed a dramatic decrease in computer performance. The reason for this is because Vista is actually slower than XP. The main reason for this is because Vista has a lot of fancy things on in that are designed to make it look pretty which are of no use to you when it comes time to actually use the computer.

So the two main things that you have to consider are your computers hardware specifications and the operating system that you are running. I actually specialize in making computer faster whether they be running Windows XP or Vista and if you are interested in learning more, just click on my username to go to my bio page. I'm sure you will find something that will interest you.

Which is better Windows 7 or windows XP?

"Which is better New or Old?"

The Answer most people will say to be New and in my years of expertise with computers, i have to say Windows 7. If configured right, it can use less resources then Windows XP (Hard to believe) and in terms of the drivers, the security and networking, i would have to say Windows 7 blows the doors off Windows XP.

However, as a second opinion, if you don't need all those extra features and you have an old program that was programmed for Windows XP that will not work with Windows 7 and has to be reprogrammed but you can't afford that right now... Then Windows XP is better. It really depends, because XP has been around for longer, if you proceed with the necessary steps, you can make your XP perform very smooth and even comparable to 7 however because Windows 7 is newer, it has newer software that allows it to perform much faster and cleaner. If you wanted to setup your machine using 7, it would be a very easy process having to get all the needed software and drivers almost automatically and configuring the network with ease.... where as if you wanted to do it with XP, you can forget about the automatic process and sit down with some manual time because until you finish making everything work, it just won't budge.

At the end of the day, its up to your preference and how much work you want to spend on configuring your operating system. Personally, i like it when i can just tell it to automatically find things and within acouple of hours im done... but if you wanna spend twice as long or maybe even three times aslong finding all the correct software for your Windows XP... by all means, have fun.

Remember guys, Microsoft is going to support Windows XP only until 2014, that could also help answer this question.... if the manufacturer doesn't want to support this product anymore, what does that tell you?
windows 7 is better than windows xp because of its look and features and the new technology. But if you Have a lower Graphics Card xp will be a little Faster.
