If you get your 12 yr old a kageet, they will be made fun or and/or beat up, get something good that is an older model or on sale, for example the iphone 3gs is free on a 3 yr contract and the bb curve is free on a 2 yr. both are very standard phones on wich parental controls could be activated if you so chose. they would also be phones that wouldn't draw unwanted attention to ur kid. I hope this helps your discision. Also, the ehem... heavy parental controls on kajeet anger most preeteens and could get you classified by said kid and his/her peers as a 'stalker parent'.
