If you are taking a 25Mg dose of Zoloft is it OK to drink small amounts of alcohol?
I am on 25mg of zoloft and i have an occasional beer or two with no adverse affects. Just be aware of side-affects so that you can be on the lookout. Side-affects can include depression or an increased affect from the alcohol, so drink slowly and test the waters first. But, most importantly, it is not know to kill you or anything.
Is Effloxor stronger than Zoloft?
Its something else its a bit stronger i would say hard to compare. And u can always take more of each
1. Who prescribed it?
If it's a Psychiatrist, ask your Pediatrician.
If it's your Pediatrician, I'd consider it safe.
2. How do you diagnose a 4 y.o. with OCD?
Will headache go away when taking Zoloft?
In some people it does cause a reduction in sever headaches.
Can you take cough medicine while taking zoloft?
Because venlafaxine is an antidepressant, I would be careful with what OTCs you take. It is suggested to use non-pharmacologic remedies such as lots of water, honey, humiditiy/hot showers, or menthol rubs (such as Vick's Vapor Rub) first to alleviate symptoms. Otherwise, make sure what you are taking does not include dextromethorphan, as taking this with venlafaxine can cause serontonin syndrome which can be severe enough to send you to the hospital. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you have any questions about the product and drug interactions.
Usually zoloft cause a little sedation, and has anti-anxiety properties. That might cause sleepiness, sedation, etc. Adderal, has got also serotoninergic activity, but in differents receptors. Ask to your doctor if is possible decreased zoloft to 25 mg, and it also can be taken at night.
Can you take Zoloft and Methadone together?
This is a dangerous combination, and it must be monitored by a doctor. Please talk to your doctor about the risks before attempting it.
What are the ide effects from taking tramadol and Zoloft at the same time?
Zoloft is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Tramadol is a painkiller with SNRI (serotonin and noadrenalin reuptake inhibitor) properties. This means that both Zoloft and tramadol have an effect on the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain. This can result in too much serotonin in the brain. This is called Serotonin Syndrom, a very dangerous condition. Never mix multiple drugs that affect serotonin.
Does antidepressants such as Zoloft Prozac Lexapro etc do these substances cause aging?
No , this cock-tail makes me feel young and ready to cum. I sometimes get the urge to just let it all go.
In what ways can drugs be used to treat a cardiovascular problem?
Most cardiovascular medications are aimed at managing hypertension (high blood pressure). Depending on the type of medication, it can target the kidneys (responsible for maintaining blood pressure through the renin-angiotensin system) or even cholesterol-lowering medications (some which prevent cholesterol from crossing the GI tract into the body, others which prevent cholesterol from re-forming once it has gotten across, others which cause cholesterol to be expelled from the body).
You need to read the leaflet to find out for definite or speak to your doctor. Taking medication which your not allowed to during pregnancy can cause birth defects or miscarriage.
No it is NOT ok to take Zoloft or other anti-depressants while pregnant. They cause all sorts of birth-defects and should be avoided. My wife was prescribed Zoloft while she was pregnant because of her mood swings and hormone levels going out of wack so she was acting really horrible. Well the doctor prescribed her Zoloft and now my son has a heart murmur and has very very bad violent outbursts and other strange behavior and it's like it's not even him when he is doing it. He is only 2 years old as of march 16th 2011. Now that all these stories are popping up of people having the same problems with their children for taking it while they were pregnant is starting to freak me out. I don't want him to have to go through life with these problems. We didn't understand why or where he was getting all this from and well now we know.
Im sick but you take Zoloft can you take NyQuil?
Yes. I am on zoloft N wellbutrin... I also get frequent sinus infections and take Nyquil without any issues.
Can you take Adderall and Zoloft together?
There is a risk of drug interaction. Zoloft obviously inhibits the re-uptake of seritonin (part of being an selective reuptake inhibitor) thus increasing the amount available at neural junctions. Adderall also inhibits (some) seritonin reuptake as well but most of its action is though high levels of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition. Thus if you are on an SSRI and start adderall, you might find you need less of the SSRI. You also have to be a little concerned about the incidence of seritonin syndrome which can be deadly if not treated appropriately (there is a famous lawsuit in NY where a young woman died as overworked/inexperienced medical residents failed to recognize the classic symptoms of seritonin syndrome, this actually led to resident work-rules). While it is not overly dangerous to take the two together (I do and am in the medical field) it is a good idea to be aware of seritonin syndrome so you can get immediate attention if you notice its symptoms (which typically will only occur when you start the new medicine or up your dosages).
Personal Experiences:
I am a 23 year old male, 6'3 and 175 lbs. I was previously prescribed Adderall 20mg and zoloft 25mg and took them with no ill effects. I did notice an increase in the unpleasant effects of drinking alcohol that were a little different than when I take either independently of each other, for example, worsened restless legs a couple hours after consumption and an increase in nausea and dizziness. However, without the alcohol, I felt no unpleasant effects taking the medications together.
About six months ago, I was laid off from a very, very good job which I had worked hard to get to. It's not simply a case of applying to another company for the same job, because it's a unique, fun, and media related job that I was lucky enough to work my way into.
Within days of losing my job, I began developing and experiencing horrible panic attacks. Every morning I would wake up with my heart beating so hard against my mattress I had to get up and take a shot of vodka. Needless to say, I only exacerbated the problem, and within a few months, I would do this nearly every morning, just to calm my nerves. I applied to jobs, but soon found it too depressing and too difficult to concentrate. I was a total wreck. I began drinking more and more just to ease the pain.
One morning I woke up in such a panic, my vision was blurry and I was considering suicide. Well, that may be stretching it, but the thought did cross my mind. I thought to myself "I can't keep feeling like this every morning, what am I supposed to do?"
I went to a psychologist and after a few sessions, and admitting that I had always found Adderall a great way to manage my life, I was prescribed 10mg of Adderall twice daily, and 25mg of Zoloft once daily.
I can tell you now, that one month in, I'm the person I used to be. I still have the same worries towards my future, but no longer are they debilitating. I am now a very productive person, and recently scored a job in the same field as before... now working six days a week.
So, personally, Zoloft and Adderall have done wonders for me. Of course, everyone is different, but I think if you are feeling anxiety, panic, depression, unfocused thoughts, etc., this may be a good combo.
Just make sure it's legal and that you can get a prescription with a psychologist that can monitor your progress. I have plenty of friends who are on other anti-depressants/anti-anxiety drugs and they've had to try a few to find the one that is right for them.
Good Luck! the future is bright!
Does Zoloft help with anxiety and concentration?
From the manufacturer (Pfizer):
Zoloft is FDA approved to treat depression, certain types of social anxiety conditions, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in adults over age 18. It is also approved for OCD in children and adolescents age 6-17 years.
Did you mean Ativan ? Ativan is a fast acting , short lived , mild , tranquilizer. It is a benzodiazepine.
that is probably not a wise idea to take 180 mgs of Adderall at all
Do you have to wean off Zoloft to start taking lexapro?
No, they are similar enough. You should have no trouble taking zoloft your last day and starting lexapro the next. Side effects you can look for would be nausea, headache, and upset stomach. You might also have a little trouble sleeping for the first few days as your body adjusts to the switch.
Can you take sertraline and khat?
i have done it recently and have been unable to think straight, see straight, or draw anything in the past 5 days. it has impinged all creativity and turned me into a zombie
I have this terrible cold I take ativan and zoloft can I take coricidin to help my cold?
There shouldn't be a problem as long as you are taking the amount prescribed of your medications and follow the dosage information for coriciden. However.....
if you are trying to "visit Robocop.." :
Don't ever, ever use corriceden. It is filled with nasty stuff that is good in small amounts for actual colds, but when abused is very unsafe. Use Robotussin cough gels. The only active ingredient listed is Dextromethorphan Hbr.
and yes, at high levels DXM (the active ingredient in CCC's or Robotussin) can interact with SSRI's such as Zoloft and cause some nasty problems such as Seratoinin syndome, high blood pressure, heart problems, hypertension...
Buuuut as long as you are taking everything normally, you -will- be fine!
Hope you feel better soon. :)
What side effects can taking Adderall zoloft and corricidin cold and cough have?
Well the drug in cold and cough medicines that makes you "trip" is dextromorphan or DXM for short. Taking dextromorphan with sertraline(zoloft) can cause serotonin syndrome, which is pretty dangerous and the medicine information that came with my zoloft says it can be fatal. I also think that your not supposed to take adderal with zoloft either, probably for the same reasons, but Im not sure about that one. Just google drug interactions between the things you might be taking. Gotta be on the safe side with medicine!
According to http://www.petplace.com/drug-library/sertraline-zoloft/page1.aspx, Zoloft is actually prescribed for dogs at doses of 1.25-2.5 mg/lb, so a dose of 25 mg (I'm assuming that's what you meant), is within that range. In general, Zoloft is supposed to be a pretty safe drug in humans with little chance of overdose. Nevertheless I would at least consult with a veterinarian, and closely monitor the dog's behavior. You should probably especially look out for hypercativity as this might be something like a canine version of Seratonine Syndrome, a potentially lethal side effect that can occur in humans.
What are the side effects of tanning and taking antidepressants?
hey are there any side effects of tanning while taking zoloft? i have crazy red bumps that itch when i tan at the tanning bed. and i have tanned for a whole 30 day once a year for the past five years, and i have never had problems. i went on zoloft about 6 months ago for mild anxity... so could zoloft be the cause of my itchies?
Yes, 3650mg of Zoloft and 700mg of Zoloft can kill a 16 years old if urgent medical attention is not administered.
What does Zoloft show up as on a drug test?
No.
It is very unlikely for one drug to cause a false positive on a drug screen for any other substance. Drug screens test for metabolites of specific drugs. All drug tests have a rating based on specificity and sensitivity. The higher the sensitivity, the lower the specificity. Basically it is only possible to have a false positive by using another drug that is very chemically similar to the positive test. These drugs are not chemically similar.
