no - they see color, but their chromatic acuity is significantly less than humans'. This is for two reasons: (1) dogs have far fewer cone cells in their retina (cone cells are responsible for seeing color); and (2) dogs are dichromatic (the see only two primary colors - blue and yellow)
Border collie puppies should be fed twice a day. Feed at the same time each day. Follow directions on bag for feeding adult border collies. If the dog is more active, a little more food may be needed.
The breed originated in England and they were first bred to herd sheep.
The same way you train any dog. Push down on its butt and force it to sit while simultaneouly saying, "Sit." Then give it a treat (I use bacon). Do this over and over until the dog does it without your pushing. Give treats often.
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium sized, shaggy working dog. This animated, clever, happy, and alert dog has a good memory. It is obedient, intelligent and affectionate. Somewhat reserved and watchful with strangers, it will announce visitors loudly. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog should be accustomed to people at an early age. Dependable and fairly easy to train, once convinced the handler is a strong minded being that can take care of its "pack", the Polish Lowland Sheepdog will make the owner happy. It learns quickly and is very willing to please; however, it can be willful if it senses it is stronger minded than its owner. This breed is responsive to firm, fair obedience training; but he is also clever, strong-willed, and will think he knows best if you are not properly communicating with him. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a serious, responsible dog who could bite if provoked. This sheepdog may nip at people's heels, displaying herding behavior. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is excellent with children when raised with them from puppyhood and/or properly socialized. They can be friendly with other dogs; but they will hold their own if another dog tries to knock them out from being the leader. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog will usually do okay with other non-canine pets. As a working dog for many centuries, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is happiest when it is given a job to do. This breed is lively and clever enough to work sheep alone. This cute, shaggy dog does not grow into a calm, little lap-dog. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a curious, muscular, agile dog, that is liable to find trouble if left alone without leadership, and the propermental and physical exercise. This breed needs an owner who is firm and consistent. Socialization and training are important. This breed is adaptable and makes a good traveling companion. This is a fairly hardy breed. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog can live in an apartment if it gets plenty of exercise and has a job to do. It prefers cool climates. The long wire-haired coat of the Polish Lowland Sheepdog needs to be groomed thoroughly with a brush once a week to prevent matting. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog sheds little to no hair and is good for allergy suffers. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, also called the Polish Owczarek Nizinny is sometimes shortened to PONS. The dogs worked on the lowland plains. Some say that this medium-sized, robust sheepdog evolved from ancient, corded herding dogs from the Hungarian plains, which were bred with other small, long-coated mountain herders, and more recent, shaggy herders, such as the Scottish Bearded Collie and Dutch Schapendoes. It is also said to have Tibetan Terrier andLhasa Apso in its blood. Like many breeds World War II very nearly led to the breed's extinction and was revived by Polish breeders after the war. Popular in Poland and elsewhere, it is generally kept as a household companion, although it remains an excellent herder. It can also work in obedience, tracking agility and therapy. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog was recognized by the AKC in 2001. They live for between 12 and 15 years.
it depends on whether you live in an association, rent or owned. we live in a townhouse and have a Shetland sheep dog. he is like Clifford. runt of the litter and the size of a collie. ask the owner or association, maybe your loved by many animal can.
There are only a few different breeds of sheepdogs so by putting together a list of the average lifespan of each breed you can get an accurate idea of how long the typical sheepdog will live for.
Adding up the average life expectancy of each breed and by then dividing them by four you'd get 11.75 years therefore you can expect the average sheepdog to live to be around 11 1/2 to 12 years of age.
Collies and Shelties are very different!!! I have a collie and a sheltie. Collies are very smart as well as shelties. So make sure you want a dog who wants a job or you have an active family.
Our Sheltie is very skiddish unless she is with our collie. She has a temper much different then all the collies we have had. She will snap if she gets too tired. If you have little kids I would not recommend a sheltie. However, if you have an older family they make a great family pet.
Collies are extremely intelligent so beware. Some of them are very cuddly and other are not. But all the collies I have had (4) have been very sweet tempered. They would never dream of hurting someone or any other dog.
I hope this was helpful!
A Shetland Sheepdog, also known as a Sheltie for short, is a strong, nimble, lightly built, beautiful dog, with a long, wedge-shaped head. Its coat is rough with a soft undercoat. Some say they are almost a perfect miniature copy in of the long-haired collie. The top plane of the muzzle should be parallel to that of the skull. The glorious long double coat sports a lion-like mane and frill around the neck, and comes in blue merle, sable and black with various amounts of white and/or tan. The outer coat is lined with a dense, woolly undercoat. The legs and long tail are feathered, and the hair on the face and feet is smooth. The tail should reach to the hock. The almond-shaped eyes are generally dark, except in blue merle dogs where they may be blue or merle color. The dog should have a watchful, gentle, questioning and intelligent expression. The nose should be black. The teeth should meet in a scissors bite. The ears are small, flexible and expressive, with dropping tips. The Sheltie is an agile, swift dog and a good jumper.
Height: 13-16 inches (33-40.6 cm.)
Weight: 14-27 pounds (6.4-12.3 kg.)

To simplify, they look like Rough Collies only smaller.
Usually 9 to 11 years. They make excellent house pets and are GREAT with children of any age despite their size and speed.
Actually, the average life expectancy of a racing greyhound according to greyhound friends for life (the racing adoption agency) is 12 -15 years. This is quite a larger number than the one above.
The male Shetland Sheepdog should average around 13-15 inches in height, with the female reaching around 12-14 inches. The weight of the male Shetland Sheepdog is around 14-18 pounds, with females reach approximately 12-16 pounds in weight.
It depends on who you have your dog. Keeped locked up in a cage all day? or playing around in the yard. A golden retriver's Life Expectancy is 10-12 years. With the proper love and care they can live to around 17 years. My golden retriver lived until he was 17 but he had to be put down. The longest living dog is always the one you cherish and hold close to your heart, even after it has left the earth.
this is true, yet not only love and care will help your dog live longer, so will the getting the right type of dog. apparently, the longest living dogs, are to be the Australian Cattle Dog, A Chow Mix, And a Chihuahua.
see its good to know that loving and nurturing your pet will help it, but its also good to know the right breeds.
Brush out the dog's coat, every day if possible, to remove tangles and mats from the undercoat. Use pin brushes, slicker brushes, natural bristle brushes and metal combs alternately, depending upon the state of the coat and the number of mats. Apply a mist of water before you begin to help de-tangle the fur and only use the metal comb when necessary.
De-mat the dog's coat by using a splitter or mat rake for significantly bad tangles. Applying detangling spray before brushing out the coat may make it less painful for your Shetland Sheepdog.
Keep the hair on the head trimmed close and short. From all angles the head of the Shetland Sheepdog should look like a wedge angling in from ears to nose.
Use a moist piece of soft cotton cloth to remove dirt and grime that can collect in the corners of the Shetland Sheepdog's eyes.
Trim the coat as needed with scissors to keep the body looking as symmetrical as possible. This is a distinct look of any collie, and no part of the animal should look out of place with the rest of the body.
The sheltie is a great dog breed and I love it! If you think a collie is too big then you can get a sheltie. They are a VERY intelligent breed and have a beautiful coat though they are not a hypoallergenic breed.
You can't unless you own Chihuahua & Friends. If a friend has Chihuahua & Friends you can do Bark Mode with them and get the Shetland Sheepdog but, they must bring that breed in order for you to get it too. You can only get one breed per friend.
The American Pit Bull Terrier is the only breed that can be correctly called a "pit bull", but other breeds are commonly mistaken for a pit. 20+ breeds are often mistaken as a pit bull. This is why so many people get biten by "pit bulls" per year; because the dog was mistakenly called a pit because of it's looks, not because of it's actual breed. See if you can find the American Pit Bull Terrier; http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html
From Wikipedia:
Striped toothpaste can be produced by including two different colored toothpastes in an unusual type of packaging. The collapsible tube has two tanks, one filled with each color paste (see figure). Squeezing the tube pushes the two pastes out the opening. The tube nozzle layers the pastes to produce a striped pattern. To keep the cost of packaging to a minimum, it is now common for tubes to be filled with striped paste (e.g. Aquafresh).[5] As the tube is squeezed, the stripes flow parallel to each other and do not mix. The patterned paste that gets dipensed is simply a narrower version of what is in the tube. Filling is done using a multi-nozzle filling head that dispenses a different colored stripe in each direction. To keep the stripes parallel to the axis of the tube, the head starts at the bottom and retracts as it fills, staying just above the level of the paste. Tubes with two compartments are generally reserved for toothpastes containing two formulas intended to react together and therefore kept isolated until dispensed (e.g. Colgate Simply White).
No way, they're very clever!
They know as much as a nine year old which is quite good for dog standards.

Shelties come in:
Sable
Blue Merle
Tri Color
Bi-Blue
Bi-Black
Shaded Sable
Double Merle -
double merle is when two blue merle shelties mate and there baby comes out mostly white. Those shelties are bound to be either deaf or blind. It's sad. :(
All dogs can be obedient if you train them right, and they respect you. They are very intelligent though!
Animal husbandry is very important component of agriculture. Shetland Sheepdogs protect and direct flocks of sheep; Australian Cattle Dogs assist drovers in the herding of cattle over long distances. Both breeds display intelligence, trainability, versatility, great energy, loyalty, and can be raised to be great pets as well.
