Here is the information from the 2000 US census report (changes between 1990 and 2000):

Based on the increases in the number of people by state, the largest increases happened in California (4.1 million), Texas (3.9 million), Florida (3.0 million), Georgia (1.7 million) and North Carolina (1.5 million).

The report also states that the fastest growing states (by percentage) were Nevada (66 percent), Arizona (40 percent), Colorado (31 percent), Utah (30 percent), and Idaho (29 percent).
