What reasons do people commit suicide?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

People commit suicide when they feel that life is pointless for them, most often they are very depressed and don't see themselves as having any sort of good future. Other people may think 'why does that person want to die and why is she depressed?' but depression is a serious illness just like cancer, diabetes etc... people don't choose and don't know why they have it. All types of people with all types of different back grounds get it. Some people who aren't depressed or suicidal may say that those who commit suicide are 'selfish' etc etc.. but it's just like any other serious sickness that causes death- the depression got to much. Basically, feeling depressed and suicidal is the worst feeling (i know...), and it is often made worse because people can't SEE it, like a broken bone or whatever, and you can't just 'cure' a mental illness. hope this answered your question!

What are effects of taking Depakote Xanax Klonopin Lamicatal and Alcohol I'm on 500mg of Depakote a lot more should have Xanax XR 1mg-Klonopin 100mg-Lamictal while drinking about 3-6 beers a night?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Seriously.. I could counsel you on what to stop taking, and what you can take and have a few beers, but I'm not going to. Drinking with Xanax and/or Klonopin has killed people before, and will kill them again. I would say if you only had one or the other on board and had 3-6 beers you're going well over the suggested amount (which is none). But on one of those drugs you would probably be OK, just more inebriated. Don't mix 2 drugs like Xanax and Klonopin with booze. Or if you really must, ask your health care provider.

Come on, seriously. You're asking on the internet about a cocktail that could put you under.

And, if you're on Depakote-- you're aware alcohol withdrawals, and even just slight hangovers can trigger seizures, right?

Is depakote an anti-psychotic drug?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, depakote is an antiseizure/mood stabilizer/antimigraine medication.

In bipolar patients in manic psychosis or depressive psychosis it may help end the psychosis by ending the mood episode, but its only acting indirectly. A antipsychotic should also be prescribed in these situations to directly control the psychosis.

Is it safe to take Depakote and Lithium together?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

My doctor prescribed 400mg Seroquel, 500mg Depakote XR 2x a day, 450mg Lithium 2x a day, and next week he is adding Lamictal. I spent one month inpatient, and have been released for a week with no problems. I would assume this means Lamictal is fine with Depakote.

It is IMPORTANT to have blood tests done weekly while on Lithium, to ensure you don't get toxic levels. I have been told to NEVER just stop taking Lamictal, as it causes Steven Johnson's disease (requires an immediate trip to the ER burn unit because your skin will "fall off your body".

So just TRUST YOUR DOCTORS ORDERS!! :)
