If you have Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (I think) or older, then upload your video and go to "video effects." When you scroll down, there are options like "rotate 90," "rotate 180," and "rotate 270."

To reverse a clip in iMovie select the clip to be reversed, open the Inspector, in the Speed section click the Convert Clip button, and once the clip is converted tick the Reverse box.

To add a freeze frame still image to a movie in iMovie move the mouse pointer over the image, in the project section, you wish to freeze and right click (or press the Control key and click) and select Add Freeze Frame from the pop up menu. This will add a 4 second still clip into the movie. Double click on the new clip to show the inspector and you can change the Duration of the clip or add an effect to the clip. Moving the mouse over the new clip reveals a small blue options menu in the bottom left corner of the clip. From this you can select Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation with which you can crop, rotate or scan across the still image - for example to zoom in on a persons face.

All I needed was a USB cable that will fit into the DV outlet on the camera. Windows Movie Maker transitions are movements between clips such as fades.

You can export your movie. Just go under share > export movie. Generally it will save as an .m4v file. Then you can just drag it into the designated upload area on YouTube. So I guess your still technically going under the share menu, but it's a little different. There's no other way TO share it without doing so with the "Share" drop-down menu.

To transfer movies from the Sony DCR-TRV19 you need to connect the camera to the computer with a FireWire cable (Sony calls FireWire iLink but it is the same thing). iMovie will recognise the camera and let you control the camera's operations from within iMovie. in iMovie select Import From Camera in the File menu.

Get something besides a Mac. :P

Just joking. There are some other freeware programs for video editing, but a good paid one is Final Cut Pro.

You can't. iMovie is only available for the Mac and is not available for Windows XP or any other version of Windows. DVD Slideshow Builder is a good substitution.

If you are using a digital camera instead of a video camera or if your camera is a Sony camera like mine, it might freeze.

From iMovie's Window menu select Event Library. This will show a pane that includes iPhoto Videos. The videos will need to be in a format that iMovie recognises - MPEG4 or DV file formats, and some .mov formats. Try MPEG Streamclip to convert between formats (See links below). If you want to import still images click on the camera icon, on the right hand side of the iMovie window, which will show your iPhoto library. Any desired items can be dragged into your movie.

Yes, you can. But not for free. You have to buy something first (thats what people say) and then you can download it so it will work. I'm stuck with windows movie maker. Most confusing stuff ever. I do NOT recommend WMM, please don't get it.

You can't send a MSWMM (Microsoft Windows Movie Maker) project to your friend or anyone for that matter.

The project must be Published/Finished (exported) before you can view it in a media player, send it by email, upload, or burn it to CD/DVD.

Once you have Published/Finished the WMM project, you can email it.

To crop a clip in iMovie you need to click on the Crop button (usually the second button from the right between the i and microphone buttons), adjust the cropping lines in the viewer until you have the desired crop and then click on the Done button in the top right corner.

Well, you need to get your pre-keyed image/video into your video bar (not the timeline), and then select it (it should be outlined with yellow). Drag the pre-keyed thing into the timeline, onto the other video, where you want it to appear. Then, let go of it, and a little menue should appear. Select "Picture in a picture". Then you should be able to manipulate it (with size and area), and that's how it's done.
