How would you replace the instrument panel light bulbs on a 1998 Chevrolet prism?

Look up at the upper part of the instrument panel and you will see (2) recessed Phillips head screws. After removing these screws you should be able to pull down on the bezel and carefully snap out the bezel. It is tricky, so be carefull. It helps if the tilt steering wheel is all the way down. After the bezel is removed you will see the instrument panel is being held in place by screws around the outer edges. after removing these screws the whole instrument cluster comes out with the cables still attached. You will see the bulbs that are twist locked into the circuit board. It is then easy to untwist and remove them.Rick Kellerrickadak@comcast.netAnswerThe previous answer sounds correct, but I was able to replace an instrument light by reaching up behind the panel. It's a little crowded, but not too hard to access.

How do you change the light bulbs that illuminate the dash on a Mazda Protege 5?

Remove 2 screws above the black trim bezel surrounding the Instrument cluster. Insert a hard plastic or nylon prying tool into the crevice surrounding the trim and gently pry evenly all around the bezel until it pops off, or use a hook tool to grasp and pull the black bezel off. Now you will have to remove 4 screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. Gently pull cluster forward and tilt down to expose electrical connectors. Carefully remove connectors by pushing in on the release tab and pulling up on the wires, this will remove the connector, repeat this procedure for the remaining connectors. Lower the steering column and gently remove the instrument cluster. You will notice little lamp holders at the backside of the cluster, genly grasp the holder(s), turn and pull up using a plier. Make a note where each lamp was removed. Purchase replacement part at your favorite Mazda dealer. Now just put everything back together and reinstall the instrument cluster.

How do you fix a 1996 Grand Cherokee limited instrument cluster?

Removing he instrument cluster from a 1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo Ltd. is easier than I thought it would be since Jeep designed it to be removed from the front of the dash. You don't have to lie upside down on the floor to do the work. You start by first removing the 6 visible screws surrounding the top underside of the bezel. Then you carefully pry off the two wood-grained trim pieces surrounding the controls below the instrument cluster bevel to the left and right of the steering wheel column. That exposes 8 more screws you must remove. Once these screws are removed, you carefully pry down the top of the bezel that surrounds the instrument cluster, pulling it forward at the same time. The bezel should pull forward and it can now be removed, exposing the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is held in place with four screws. Use a magnetic tipped screwdriver, so you don't lose them inside the dash. The cluster may now be removed. The good news is that it is simply plugged into a socket behind the cluster, there are no wires to disconnect, which is nice. You gently rock it back and forth, while pulling it towards you. At this point you can either replace the entire cluster, which my local Jeep dealer charges about $325 for, or you can further disassemble the cluster to replace individual gauges, which I am doing. My speedometer stopped working and the dealer charged $118 for its replacement. You must supply your VIN and odometer reading and the old speedometer, to avoid the core charge. Take it slow on removing all plastic parts, to avoid breakage and you should do all right. If you need further help, give me a call at 650-638-5905 and I will try to help as best I can. I hope this helps give people the confidence to do this simple task by themselves.

You have a Toyota Corolla 2002 recently the light on the dashboard has gone out on half of the screen blacking out the heat index and part of the fuel level is there any way you can fix this problem?

remove the 2 Philips screw holding the black bezel in place (in top of it), remove the bezel, remove the 3 Philips screw holding the cluster in place, take the cluster aka the thing with all the gauges in it . get the cluster out, you will see three green light sockets that are screwed into the back of the cluster, they are holding 194 type bulb, remove them, and replace the bulbs. might as well replace all 3 of them. make sure to reinstall the little plastic cover over the new bulbs. put cluster back in place, screw 3 philipps, reinstall bezel, reinstall the 2 screws.
