Russia was one of the two superpowers the cold war was metaphorically fought between. The other was America and for decades the two superpowers, with their opposing ideologies (communism - Russia and capitalism - America). Events such as the Cuban Missiles Crisis, Détente, Prague Spring and Berlin Wall were all caused due to superpower tensions. The cold war started in 1943, following tensions at the three conferences between GB, the USA and USSR (Russia) when deciding how to end WW2. When WW2 was over, the two remaining superpowers, Russia and the USA (as GB had been crushed following WW2) had no common enemy and relationships started turning frosty when in 1945, Harry Truman, president of the USA casually told Stalin, leader of the USSR that the USA had developed the first atomic bomb and was prepared to use it against the Russians. This was the start of approximately 45 years of Nuclear tension, and was only ended when Gorbachev (who became leader of USSR in 1985) called it of at a conference in 1989, and the tearing down of the Berlin Wall was another symbol of this release in tension. In 1991, the USSR broke down into several states and its satellite states turned away from communism aswell. Russia is now an independent, capitalist state, as communism quickly fell.
North and South Vietnam were in a conflict over the type of government they wanted. North Vietnam wanted communism and South Vietnam wanted Capitalism. If North Vietnam won then the outbreak of communism would be a greater risk. The United States decided to intervein, thus started the cold war. _______________________________________________________________________ Excuse me, but I think that you're talking about the Vietnam War. The Cold War was never fought with weapons, it was a war of ideas between the communists (aka Soviet Union) and non-communists (aka almost everyone else who wanted to get involved).
it play in the russin cold war.
Absolutely. The war was entirely based upon the principle of containing communism.
Nationalism did play an important role in the cold war. There are certain individuals who offered to work as spies for their countries.
Well, it was part of the Cold War, and the rise/downfall of Communism.
They are both the same thing.
Cold War means no fighting. No shooting. No one dies. Hot Wars are a series of battles. Seldom is one battle a war. The Vietnam War was the second "Hot" battle of the cold war. Korea was the first.
Your question is incomplete -- who or what is "they"
he played the role of Brad Pitt
you got a cold? fight the war yerself!
Communism WAS the cold war. The Communists had nuclear weapons, we had nukes. The cold war was a military stand-off; two gunfighters staring at each other, each waiting for the other one to make a mistake or go for his gun. Finally, in 1989 (1990,1991 however histornians want to write it), the gunfighter named Soviet, turned his back and walked away...that ended the stand-off (cold war).
A war against communism, 1948-1994
It was a fight about democracy and communism. That is what the cold war was about.
The Soviets were a Communist nation until the "end" of the cold war.
