First off, disconnect negative battery cable. Then push your hand inside the shifter boot, and pull the panel that the shifter is in out. The whole front panel is in two parts, and the lower part will pull out. Go slowly here, firm pressure should get it out for you. Once you have the panel out, look at the lower part of the top panel (the one with the radio and ac vents). You should see two screws at the bottom, remove those. Now start pulling the entire upper panel out of the dash. The whole upper panel will come forward, disconnect the wiring for the climate control and you should then have enough room to get the radio out. Word of advice on disconnect of radio-make certain you have anti theft code or radio will not work if reconnected.
I just had to remove mine to replace a heater switch... Pull out cup holder and remove two screws. then, You have to remove the lower storage compartment or DVD player if you have it, cigarette lighters etc, then you can access the two screws under the cupholder now the face plate is loose and can be removed. There are tabs on the top, so tilt out from the bottom first. Good luck
If you are referring to the factory installed radio the simple answer is you can't. The face is not removable, it is an integrated part of the unit. If it has stopped working, you have three choices: 1) go see the dealer and pay big $$$, 2) order an aftermarket radio from one of the many online or brick and mortar stores--make sure you also get an installation kit and harness ( or have them do it for you) ;3) removed the factory radio and ship it to united radio for repair (you can Google them for the web site- unitedradio.com i think)
get a coat hanger, cut it in to 2 pieces bend them in a shape like this [ to fit in the holes, push them in them pull out the face plate
Remove the 1993 Toyota decorative radio cover in. Remove the radio retaining screws. Pull the radio out. Remove the wiring harness.
I found the easiest way to do remove the woodgrain faceplate is to take a small scewdriver, and bend the end of it until it is hooked shaped, then put the hook behind the faceplate one corner at a time, slowly pulling out until each corner pops loose. Its the best way I know how, I have took many off this way with no damage to the faceplate.
If you are referring to the factory supplied radio, it is not a 'component' type radio. It must be removed from the dash and dis-assembled.
The stock roof-mounted antenna on the 2005 Toyota Matrix will unscrew from the antenna base that is attached to the roof. If your original antenna has been stolen, you should be able to obtain a replacement antenna and just screw it on the the antenna base that is still attached to the roof of your Matrix.
you can't do it yourself you have to get help from a pro
If the face plate of the original factory radio is Oval, like the 1997 escort, you can get a new radio faceplate that will accept a standard aftermarket radio from crutchfield. Mine cost $49 back in 1997. It even takes the original A/C and rear defroster controls.
you will see 2 holes in each side of the radio, insert standard radio pins into these and the radio will pull out
you will see two holes in each side of the radio, insert standard radio pins in here and the radio will pull out
Remove the dashboard faceplate, and the rest is pretty simple.
use the removal tools in the holes on the sides of faceplate
Need either special tool or perhaps paper clips inserted in small holes at corner of face plate. After releasing faceplate you should have access to mounting bolts
remove the screws and give it a slight tug
Remove the neg battery cable tehn the aC ducts under the dash. Then take the wires and bolts holding the radio from under the dash. Then remove the knobs and the nuts under them. Work the radio out from under the dash. First remove the bezel from the dash, (around the radio). Use 4 heavy pieces of wire and insert one into each of the holes in the corners of faceplate of the radio. Push them in approx. 2 inches then pull the radio out the front and disconnect the wires and antenna.
Very easy. Pull faceplate cowling off, pinch together plastic pins on outside of radio and pull whole radio out.
How to remove the factory radio and disconnect wirring harnes in a 2004 f150 ford truck
Remove the ashtray, and you will see two Philips head screws. Remove the screws and you will be able to pull the climate control faceplate off the dash. Be careful not to break the tabs on the top sides of the faceplate or pull too hard or you will break the cables that operate your vents. You will have to pull the white plug off the clock behind the plate and the smaller black plug that operates your hazard switch. From there you can see the screws holding in the radio, remove those, the antenna wire and the white plug that is for your power and your speakers.
I have a '94 ford escort. To remove the factory radio you need a special tool that inserts into the pairs of holes found on the right and left sides of the radio. Once the tool is inserted, you will hear a "click" and be able to remove the radio. If you can't get the tool, you could try using something that will fit into these holes. You need to be able to insert something at least a few inches inside to disengage the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is not complicated like a key, it just needs to be depressed to release.
