Does anyone have any info on an early 1980 ray-jay rotomaster turbo for a small block Chevy?

Hello. I just purchased a Rotomaster turbo setup for a small block chevy. It has a Rajay turbo, and uses a Martin intake manifold. It is a drawthrough system, which the carburator sits on top, just like a normally aspirated carb/intake setup, but has two pipes sticking out the passenger side of intake manifold. The Martin intake is a two piece intake manifold. I did a little research and made a few phone calls. I wanted to find out how many pounds of boost the turbo puts out. I talked to this guy that works for a diesel turbo shop that rebuilds turbos. He is familiar with the Rajay turbos and can still get some parts for them. He asked how many r.p.m.'s I am producing with my engine. I said my camshaft will make power up to 7500 r.p.m.'s. He claims that the turbo would put out between 15-18 lbs. boost at the low end, and put out 25-27 lbs. boost at the high end! He said those turbos are hearty little devils. I find that hard to believe, seeing that the turbo is relatively small compared to some I seen. I read in a forum, that someone claimed that the turbo put out only 5 lbs.boost.

How do you install distributor for 1969 Chevy C10 pickup?

first you need to take out the number 1 spark plug. then rotate the motor until the piston gets to the top of that cylinder. one of these strocks is called the compression the other is the exhaust, you need it to be on compression strock. to know for sure you take that valve cover off and watch the valves open and close if the piston comes up while the exhaust valve is open you know this is the exhaust stroke. The next time it comes up is the one you want you can use a small screw driver in the spark plug hole and feel the piston ,as soon as it hits the highest point and starts to drop down stop this is what is called top dead center or TDS. if you look at the harmoic balancer at the front of motor there should be a timing mark and alot of times it will have TDC on it. The grove on the harmoic balaner should line up. now the motor is set , take the distributer with rotor on set cap on mark where the #1 plug is take cap off and should have a mark on the base of the distributer. know slide the the dis. with rotor on in when it goes in the last 3\4 of an inch the rotor will turn a bit so keep that in mind, if you set the cap on and the rotor point at #1 on the cap you are set to go keep in mind you will have to set the timing once you got it running GOOD LUCK

When was the Chevy scottsdale made?

The Scottsdale package was first available on the 1975 C/K pickups. The first 2 years of that generation (73 & 74) the only packages available were the Custom, Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne, and Cheyenne Super.

The Scottsdale package was dropped mid-year on the 1992 model truck. The above is according to John Gunnell's "Chevrolet Pickups: 1973-1998".

For reference I drive a 1992 C2500 with Scottsdale badging/package. I've been told this truck never existed from the factory, but it is all original, was my grandfather's, and shows the Scottsdale option on the original window sticker.

How do you replace the front wheel hub assembly on Chevrolet 4X4?

I just did this for my 2002 Suburban 2500 4X4. Right front at 145K miles, the left was done by dealer at 90K, under warranty. I was in for some other minor issue, and they did the safety check.

The dealer quoted $630. I looked into part at Checker on-line, $225. I called my nearest one, they had it on the shelf. I checked for some on-line plans. Found a few.

Looked doable, with minimum tools. I went home, jacked up truck on that side, and checked for looseness in wheel bearing. Was very loose. I had also had heard an intermittent noise from that area, but not critical, thought it could have been the CV joint?

The big thing is the spindle nut removal. It is 35MM. You will need to very carefully remove dust cap, you need to re-install. You will need to loosen the spindle nut with truck tire on ground. It may also be possible to just slightly loosen it with someone applying brakes. Find a big breaker, and/or a powerful impact wrench. You will need to re-install with 156 or 177 ftlbs?? I found both of these numbers on-line. Plan on this. Since most 1/2 in torque wrenches only go to 150+.

So after removing wheel, and previous loosening of nut, you have to remove brake caliper bolts. Then Caliper hanger. This was hard. Bolts have some serious locktite.

Carefully place caliper on top of A arm and bungee so as to not damage brakeline.

Disc has 2 keepers, start removal with screwdriver, wiggle them and the disc off. You will need to replace.

Follow Anti lock brake line up to connector on top of frame. Carefully separate Remove this line from all keepers. The new hub has line and new keepers.

Complete spindle nut removal. Remove 4 bolts at back of hub and then hub assy is free.

Wipe it all clean. Reverse installation. Disc splash plate goes forward. Use small locktite on hub nuts and hanger bolts. Torque to 85-90. Check on-line feedback.

Final Spindle nut tightening needs brakes held, after all assy, less wheel. Be very careful to stay away from brake pedal while caliper is off!

Lots of info on-line. Took about 2 hours of real work.
